Arrested Development: 4.3.05

I loved the reason why the cops were late.

To Franklin “Put your hands up or else you’ll be treated as hostile…HE’S HOSTILE!”

I also loved the way everyone, including GOB, treated Franklin as if it were a real person.

George’s plan to abduct Lucille by putting ether on Franklin’s mouth and making it kiss her, then stuffing her in the garment bag. And GOB accidentally getting himself with the ether.

Lindsey to George Michael: Take the ring! Not the snake, that one doesn’t come off.

Mrs. Featherbottom’s failed (and painful) Mary Poppins impression was definitely “her” best moment. Glad they (hopefully) retired that character. Funny episode, but only 2 more left this season. :frowning:

Ah, so it was. The reason I asked was that he didn’t just say his sister might guest star, it was that she was said to be appearing as a girlfriend who was very religious, so they couldn’t kiss. That’s not exactly how the ep played out but it seemed like it could’ve been the part he was talking about.

Somewhat off topic, but I was watching the Season One DVDs this weekend, and I’ve gotta say that I don’t think they’ve ever done anything funnier than the thing with Mr. Banana Grabber. “I can’t BELIEVE I gave up animation rights!”

I’ve been cracking myself up all day with that line, and I just wanted to share some of the levity

Blasphemy ! Everyone knows “Pier Pressure” is the funniest thing AD has ever done.

I liked Tobias’ reaction to George Sr. “Oh hi Tobias.”

I loved Franklin saying “Hey man, that’s his neck!”

Ah, and I meant to mention this - and the AD site gets it wrong - but did anybody see the name of the script Maeby was reading?

“Operation: Hot Mother.”

I love this show but I almost feel sorry for the young actress playing Anvil er. . . Ann Veal. She really does get the short end of the snark.

Hey, she’s workin’. A lot of bland young actresses aren’t.

If AD gets picked up for another season, I can picture her really blossoming (or at least put in some hot slutty outfits) and then dumping George Michael after expressing burgeoning interest in Maebe.

My favorite line of the evening was from the “Next week on AD” section:
(paraphrasing)
“I don’t give a damn about your tired old country club, ya freak bitch!”

“Does she look old enough to play Topher Grace’s mom?”
“Maebe realized she needed a new deflection”

I wonder if there was supposed to be a connection (or at least a gag) between Ann Veal and the Bluth family’s private eye from an earlier episode, Gene Parmesan.

If Paul Picatta shows up, we’ll know.

Did anyone catch that the snippet of funk music they played at the end when Ann came on to George Michael was the same music from the end of the first episode, when George Michael was told he and Maeby would be sharing a room?

I liked how Oscar keeps hinting to Buster that he’s actually his father, but never actually says it and Buster never picks up on the hints. Meanwhile, Tobias continue to pretend that he’s not Mrs Featherbottom even though he’s fooling no one and they’ve made it clear more than once.

I noticed it throughout the episode… I guess Buster doesn’t remember the stuff that precipitated the loss of his hand, where he found out that Oscar IS his father (because George Sr. told him something he misunderstood)?

And they always play soap opera-type music when Oscar drops the hints.

I believe I read on TWoP that these last couple episodes are broadcast out of order. So that could explain why Buster isn’t as clued in about Oscar this week. And I wouldn’t be surprised if Mrs. Featherbottom is still around next week.

Sword of Destiny was #17 and Meat the Veals was #15, so next week should be 16.

Buster found out about Oscar right before he lost his hand. That’s why he went swimming and misunderstood the shouts of “Loose seal.” (“I’m not afraid of Lucille- she lied!”) I guess he forgot, and unlike Michael last season, nobody’s helped him figure it out.

Maybe. We know Lindsay knows who he is now. They may have made some adjustments, since we did see him getting into the Mrs. Featherbottom suit in Sword of Destiny.

When Buster woke up after losing his hand, he says something like “Why was I swimming in the ocean? Did we have a fight?”

They made it clear he didn’t remember the events before the hand loss fairly early on.
