Doing some Googling, there’s actually a wiki page for Ninja loans, the one that George Michael took out to buy the house.
I actually did LOL during episodes 12-14, I thought those were great. Who knows the fate of this show now? I kinda doubt a movie happening at this point, unless by some miracle those that drank the kool aid convince enough other people to watch it several times over and appreciate the meta aspects of the writing.
I found Sudden Valley, which wasn’t really hard to do at all. They referenced Irvine so much that I had to “Something Earth” it when they showed a map (I grew up in Irvine). The are they are calling Sudden Valley is actually Rancho Santa Margarita, which I’m guessing was a community that popped up ala the Bluth’s. If you “Something Earth” “Rancho Santa Margarita Lake” and zoom out a bit, you can see this is exactly where they are placing Sudden Valley. The roads and geography are quite clearly outlined on the show maps.
Watching the 4th episode now.
Holy crap, this is hilarious and a huge return to form for the show this season. Wow, a very funny episode.
Whoa, Tobias’ episode killed us, too.
“And how old is your…‘daughter’?”
“Well, she’s 19…but I prefer to think of her as 15.”
Get him!
The cameos are many, and this list has most of them.
I was shocked at how many of those people I didn’t know the names of at all. It can’t just be me, a large handful of those actors have to be E list celebs at best.
They left out Deidrich Bader, Bruce McCulloch, and the original cast of MST3K with Joel!
This show really blurs the line between actor and cameo. Scott Baio, Henry Winkler, Martin Mull, Ed Begley Jr. would usually be thought of as cameos in a typical show. Kristen Wiig, Seth Rogen, and John Krasinsky are the cameos here. What constitutes a cameo now?
More than once I’ve said, “Hey, it’s that guy!”
I wonder how many people pirated the show and didn’t realize the “Showstealer Pro” watermarks were a gag.
Was the MST3K footage old or did they actually get them to come in and do that? And that was Joel? If they do it more than once, I was referring to the Fantastic Four section.
Quite a few, including at the start of this thread if you go back to page one.
I’m reading now that perhaps the MST3K footage was new and was voice cameos by the original cast? Wow, that’s amazing if true.
As happy as I was to see the MST silhouettes - I don’t remember them actually saying anything over the footage, which I thought was a missed opportunity. so I assumed it was just old shadowrama footage, superimposed.
I am pretty sure they were speaking. Joel joked about the fishing line breaking again or something like that.
The audio was really messed up there. I didn’t hear anything at all from them for one of the scenes, and in another just some incomprehensible muttering and then the words “fishing line” from Joel (it sounded like Joel).
Yeah, I just finished watching episode 4, and this is the first episode I’ve gotten all the way through. Hope the rest are like these. Even the narration seems to have returned to the pacing and tone I’m used to.
Yeah, I was wondering about that as well but the Internet says that it’s Portia. The Internet wouldn’t lie, would it?
So far, I’m liking it. I got through the first 4 eps and then my wife wanted to watch them and I rewatched 2 - 4 again. I thought the first ep dragged a bit, but it was also fun to watch for stuff that I may have missed in the episodes that I did see.
Anyone know what the deal is with James Lipton’s legs?
It was her— I think— but boy was it distracting trying to figure out exactly what was wrong about her face. Immobilized forehead of course, but that’s de rigueur… her nose looked different too, and something oddly droopy about her eyes. Upper lip trout-pumped somewhat, I think. Some have said she looks more like Calista Flockhart now, but to me she looked like an aging, slightly haggard Olsen twin.
In photos she seems to look okay, but (as with many plastic surgery misadventures) seeing the face in motion, attempting normal human expressions, just causes a disconcerting feeling of wrongness.
The Captain and Tennille joke just about killed me.
I like the change in format, I suppose in part because I was mentally prepared by Breaking Bad, with its tendency to start the story at the end. I couldn’t imagine watching this play out over 15 weeks, though.
Anne looks better than Lindsey now. A bit unfortunate for them.
Her?
I noticed as well. He is 86 years old, though. They actually looked slightly bowlegged.
One of my favorite moments was him, Andy, Michael, etc. walking down the area with “Simply the Best” playing. We laughed a lot.
So poking around a bit on the web it seems people are framing the Rossi Facejob issue as involving speculation and a need to ask expert opinions etc. But I thought the show was specifically acknowledging that her face is indeed changed in an episode where George Sr and Lindsay were talking about Maebe getting plastic surgery and Lindsay remarks “What kind of a woman would do something like that?” (And George Sr. made some interpretable remark about Lindsay’s nose as well, to my recollection). Was that not the show confirming that her face has been altered? Did I misread or read into it to much?
