Arrested Development season 4 is now live.

Dude. Pretend you didn’t write that post, then re-read it in the voice of a tin-hat-person, preferably at a very, very fast pace.

Creepy eh?

Not really.

What I’ve always found a little odd is that, let’s say Brad Pitt (since we’re already talking about him) died right now. In 10 minutes every major news outlet will be running a perfectly polished remembrance/video memorial because it’s already ready to go. It’s someone’s job to keep these things updated all the time.

But no, the Brad Pitt thing didn’t seem creepy at all to me I assume it was an honest coincidence or someone saw AD, knew that Brad had face blindness and wrote the article quickly to generate some traffic.

I’m familiar with the practice for elderly celebs. Do you really think someone has a remembrance piece written for Jennifer Lawrence or Emma Stone? Granted they’re far younger, but BP doesn’t exactly have one foot in the grave. I can see there being an early Obit for Amy Winehouse being composed, but one for Heath Ledger or Brittany Murphy?

My WAG is that you have to be either 60+ or someone along the lines of Lidsay Lohan in order to have a “pre-bituary” ready to go. Poor Abe Vigoda’s was probably written on an early model typewriter.

I wouldn’t be surprised if they at least have a good start on it. Seems like a good thing for an intern to do. A good way to get your feet wet in the editing room some late night when you have a few hours.
I’m sure there’s some policy on who’s they keep updated regularly and who’s they don’t. For example, I’m sure Betty White’s get’s updated damn near every time she does anything major OTOH like you said, Brad Pitt’s…maybe not so much. I’m sure they have something ready to go because if they don’t people will just change the channel, even if it’s a year out of date they can run it while they update it quickly.

I’ll also bet that Angelina Jolie got put on the ‘keep it updated’ list after her surgery (and future surgeries) especially with Ray Manzarek kicking the bucket and no one even knowing he was sick.
Of course, I’m sure it’s a lot easier now to put these together then it used to be. I always imagine that anything that comes through a studio gets sorted into (digital) folders. So, you get a clip of Brad Pitt on Anderson Cooper, you tag it with those two names and dump it onto the server etc. Gone are the days of someone dying in a freak car accident and people having to start finding old reels of film in the storage room to splice together. They can do in minutes what probably would have had to wait for the 9:00 news 40 years ago.

OK, so who played the Shaman Lindsey visited in “Indian Takers”?

At the end they made it sound like it was Maeby. Did anyone go back and watch it the first time to see if it really was her?

Yeah, it seemed like it to me. She had heavy makeup and she put on a different voice of course (she may or may not have had technical assistance with the voice - I was impressed at how much the voice didn’t sound like her, although there were inflections that sounded like hers).

It was definitely her. In the credits for “Indian Takers,” the shaman is credited as “Rich Aliaändanost.”

(aka “Alia and an ostrich”)

I was just relaying the fact that it lacks social grace to criticize Portia’s body because she has a history of physical and mental illness connected to negative body image. It doesn’t seem like a particularly controversial statement to make, and I was replying to people in this thread criticizing Portia’s face. I don’t mean to pick a fight and derail the thread, though, so I’ll drop it.

The end credit certainly points to Maeby: “Rich Aliaandanost – shaman sheman” [ETA: Ninja, please!]

Here she is. It is her.

This twist didn’t work for me because I recognized Maeby as the shaman immediately. It was the eyes.

I knew it was somebody, I just figured Tobias was more likely.

Having just seen the episode again, I can give a better answer. Tobias and Marky Bark did not get thrown clear of the explosion. However, in the “next time on…” portion, they can both be seen moving around on the boat (like they were trying to put out flames or being just generally chaotic). The bomb wasn’t very explodey, apparently.

So did I miss something, or is the mystery of Lucille 2’s death as yet unresolved?

Of course, it would be perfectly in keeping for the barely-glimpsed body to not be Lucille 2 at all, or even a person.

Well, I daresay an explosion at sea won’t faze Tobias. He can handle a salty blast as well as the next man.

As I said in post 89: I’m pretty sure the Lucille 2 mystery is left open (I’m thinking as something to address in an upcoming movie). In the part of the very first episode that takes place after Cinco de Quatro, it seems that Michael does know something, and is feeling very guilty about something he did, but Gob give him his last forget-me-now. In any case, it didn’t quite feel right - a split-up loopy cliffhanger just creates an unusual sensation.

Someone else then suggested that the forget-me-now wouldn’t go back far enough to erase Michael’s memory of whatever he knows (and feels guilty about) that happened to Lucille Austero. However, I just saw again the episode with GOB. Right after Michael awakens from the forget-me-now he calls and leaves a message for Lucille 2 that heavily suggests that he doesn’t remember coming on to her the night before (and her reaction).

This’ll probably end up like Memento - you can find plot holes if you look closely enough.

I liked it but didn’t love it. Much funny was to be had but a lot of the episodes dragged as well. It was very uneven. I was also not a fan of the fact that the Season didn’t tell a complete story. The open ending without a confirmed Season 5 or Movie was a dumb idea.

My favorites were the George Michael and Maeby episodes. I wouldn’t mind a spin off that just focused on them working their way around Hollywood and Silicon Valley. The worse episodes were definitely front loaded which is unfortunate.

Lots of subtle, unspoken jokes. My favorite might have been how the two Pastors on the TV show were named Veal and Marsala. I think I might have watched them in too short an amount of time (three days) because I know I missed a bunch of stuff. The Tenille joke, for example, blew (blue?) right by me.

Still, I am glad they did them and wouldn’t mind seeing more.

But it wasn’t clear that they were using the proper protection especially since the explosive load was set off by a fellow seaman.

I won’t have finished watching all the episodes until tomorrow so I’m not reading this thread until then. But my wife noticed something that I thought was impressive and hadn’t seen mentioned anywhere:

There’re a number of modern family references that are made. In episode 11, for example, Gob and Michael accuse each other of dating the actress who plays Claire. Later in that episode is an incredibly subtle one. Gob visits Tony Wonder at his house. This is the same house/set that Claire and Cam flipped in this season of Modern family.
