Since there’s a more detailed thread on the newly released NetFlix series, please keep this thread to comments about your impressions of the quality of the show while keeping it spoiler free (since some of us don’t have NetFlix and will have to wait until it’s available on DVD to watch it).
Which most accurately sums up your feelings?
I loved it. Thought it was great from start to finish (although, okay, it took a little while to ramp up, but I was in the groove by the end of the first episode).
There are a few differences, and a few flaws, compared to the older seasons, but it had plenty (even more, probably) of the humor and puns and running jokes and callbacks and other bits to catch that I enjoy about the series overall.
I watched it all in one marathon session the day it was available, and my wife and I are now watching together. I’m having a great time watching her catch stuff, and I’m enjoying catching more stuff myself.
I can’t say I hoped for more, considering I was hoping it would be about as good as it is. Really good. Not as good as the first 3 seasons, but good.
I’m just happy it’s no “Phantom Menace” kind of disgrace. They did a good job.
I watched it all over the course of two days. I think I’ll have to watch it again, now that I figured out the Pulp-Fictionesque chronology.
Finish? There’s more episodes coming, right???
A movie maybe, but I don’t think any episodes are coming.
It hits the “cringe” button more than I’d like, but otherwise I enjoyed it overall.
I’m somewhere between “meh” and “disappointed.” Maybe I shouldn’t vote until I’m all the way through, but halfway through, I’m still having difficulty sustaining interest long enough to finish most of the episodes. Definitely doesn’t captivate me the way the original seasons did. When I first happened upon AD, I saw one episode midway through Season 2 and then watched, marathon-style, the whole of Season 1 and Season 2 up to that point the next two days. Maybe I’m just setting an impossibly high bar, but this series of episodes just doesn’t captivate me that way. I’ve fallen asleep midway through four of them so far. I don’t feel an obsessive compulsion to watch as much as I can as I did the first time around. Maybe my sense of humor has changed, I don’t know. But the old episodes still make me laugh. These? Sometimes I eke out a chuckle.
