Arrow - Season 3 Thread

Aaaaand … Ollie uses the “raysh” pronunciation while speaking to Ra’s, and then switches back to"rozz" while speaking with Malcolm outside.

Not to be selfish or impatient, but does anyone know the answer to mu question?

Yes. “Team Flash”, or at least Joe and Cisco, traveled to Starling City, during an episode of The Flash. Laurel recognized Cisco, and asked him if he could upgrade her sister’s sonic devices.

Also, seriously, watch The Flash. Great show.

but did the show itself ever mentioned the device? i had never heard of the device before it appeared on the Flash and they apparently started using it without ever actually talk about it.

Sara used handheld sonic devices, many episodes ago. Laurel is now wielding a “hands-free” version.

There was no mention in Arrow that Black Canary’s sonic scream had been upgraded from a tossable grenade to a throat-mounted amplifier.

We will watch the Flash this summer and begin watching it as it airs next year. I’ve only seen the Arrow crossover one.

Thanks, and how weird they didn’t adequately explain it on the show. Despite crossovers, they have to treat each show like a separate entity.

The Flash is remarkably competent when he’s on Arrow. He took out an entire lair’s-worth of evil henchmen all by himself. And not just ordinary mooks, either. They were League of Assassins-level evil henchmen. If Oliver had just called in Barry in the first place, this whole affair could have been over and done with months ago.

“You guys have a hot tub? Nice.”

My fanon explanation is that Flash’s competence is inversely proportional to how involved he is in the planning/decision making process. He’s proof that great soldiers don’t necessarily make great leaders.

My sense of that is that it was like the original Marvel versus Capcom video game, where you could call in an NPC from off-screen for an assist, but they only did the one thing, and you only got to use them the one time.

I thought this episode was a bit hit-and-miss. Some fun stuff, some silly stuff, some anticlimaxes.

One thing I did like a lot is the development in the flashback which gives a good reason for why he’s not calling up Starling City and telling everyone he’s alive. There was a limit to how much longer they could keep up “every time he gets near a cell phone Amanda Waller finds out” without it getting ridiculous.

I agree that The Flash was way more competent here than he normally is.

Ollie vs. Ras was a bit of a letdown, although the idea of Merlyn as the new Ras makes a lot of sense and is a good reason to keep a compelling character around.

The setting was good fake cliffhanger. If the two main antagonists are fighting at the top of a waterfall, you’d expect the fight to end with one or the other or both falling to an assumed death, only to reappear at the season premier. But Ra’s was incontrovertibly killed and Ollie, after getting shot by police snipers, was saved by (a) League armor and (b) ATOMicity flying in and plucking him out of the air. No cliffhanger!

I noticed that Merlyn, after pronouncing it “RAHS” all season, says “RAYS” now that he’s the head honcho. Must be something in the water.

I am disappointed in the finale this year. However, this was the best season of Arrow for me. I have been reading that some folks have not liked it, but I thought it was bold, engaging, and intense. This makes the finale a lame ending. They just kind of resolved stuff without too many huge consequences. In a 23 episode season, it should not feel rushed, but it did.

I felt the final moments were extremely forced, with Merlyn becoming Ra’s, Diggle hinting he might become a super-hero, Superman(Routh) blowing up(but surviving I’m sure), and Arrow quitting. It’s fairly obvious, despite Stephen Amell’s comments otherwise, that Green Arrow will be back in 2-3 episodes tops. He may have a different costume, but he’ll be back and all this retirement talk will be over.

Can Ra’s Al-ghul die in the comics? I thought that no matter what, he can somehow come back. Is he “dead dead” in this show now? Weird.

Putting the Flash in this episode sucked. His lame-ass explanation for why he couldn’t stay and help with the super bad situation was pathetic. He could so help kick Ra’s butt.

Bad writing. (though I love Barry just got revealed to Merlyn).

I will forgive your comment as you have previously admitted that you do not watch The Flash. Things are equally bad, if not more so, over in Central City and he doesn’t really have anyone else to help him. Whereas here there’s the Arrow, ATOM, Black Canary, Malcolm Merlyn, oh, and John Diggle. They can surely take care of the rest of the evil crew while he goes back to save his own city.

I meant that the “in show” explanation was weak.

So, in case this is considered spoilers (about the Arrow/Flash spin-off)

Apparently they will be resurrecting Sara as White Canary for the Arrow/Flash spin-off. Do you think she will appear on Arrow again? That would be all kinds of confusing for the Lance family.

Hopefully she *will *come back to Starling City… even if just so Captain Lance can stop being such a HUGE DICK
