I’m having a similar problem - I’ve been trying to participate in a GD thread, and everything I hit ‘preview’ to check my coding I get ‘server not found’ over and over and over . . . Once or twice I was able to ‘back’ up to my original reply page and hit ‘preview’ again, which sometimes worked. For the last two days, though, even that doesn’t work because my ‘reply’ page disappears! All my ‘back’ button shows is the thread page :(.
And I’ve tried the Wordpad thing, which is annoying because I’m not used to it and its awkward - but I still can’t preview. The only way I can get a post to go through is to use the little ready-made reply box at the end of the page and ‘submit’ from there without previewing. Even then it sometimes takes 15 to 20 minutes for the entire process to get me from ‘submit’ back to the thread.
I’ve been assuming that it is partly a problem from my end, because my computer has been cranky (Windows Me - don’t do it!) and my internet access has been incredibly slow for the last few days no matter what website I’m trying to view. I started to ask over in ATMB if there was something else going on, because its terribly, terribly frustrating!
Of course, what makes it really aggravating is to finally get a chance to read the boards and see where a bunch of numbnuts with cream-of-wheat for brains have been posting merrily away . . . Granted, I’m not exactly the Einstein of the SDMB, but at least I can form a complete sentence, and sometimes even convey a coherent thought or two.
Kinda makes you feel like the SDMB gods are shitting on you, you know?
shrug Nothing really to be done about it, I guess, unless they do happen to find a fixable glitch in the board software.
Of course, finding a 'possum in my kitchen one night and a raccoon the next night hasn’t exactly improved my mood any. Geez, you’re supposed to be wild animals, why are you in my kitchen? And who taught you how to open the screen door? And you could at least have acted a little scared instead of calmly waddling your fat ass back out when I yelled, and then hanging around in the back yard waiting to see if I closed the wooden door or not. At least the raccoon was properly respectful, that damned 'possum seems to think he lives here and snarls and hisses at me every time we meet.
ahem Sorry about that, got carried away.
