It’s funny because I read an article in the paper today complaining about how people aren’t going to the movies as much anymore.

Some of these films would be stuff I want to see.
And ‘In Production’ is a pretty vague term. Some of these films will never be made.

“Invasion of the Body Snatchers” would be at least the 3rd remake.
original 1956 : http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0049366/combined
1st remake 1978: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0077745/combined
2nd remake 1993: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0106452/combined

I am SO watching that. I plan on watching a lot of the others, but this one just caught my eye.

They barely have enjoy material for 15 minutes. WTF?

Used to think that I could watch a tit flick, then I watched Blue Crush in theathers. : Shudder : Never again.

Make more The Thin Blue Line, Rowan.

Better than Baby Geniuses 3, I suppose.

There was a 1? Oh, right. Danyon Wayans. : Shudder :

Live-action or animated? I’d rather see Conan (the one with the Star Metal and the talking Phoenix).

I’d rather see Mad Max: Fury Rood. Jesus has returned and he’s pissed.

As in Kevin Smith Clerks? Animated? I’d watch that.

A Captain Marvel movie? I’m nervous.

Yeah. The Red Dwarf movie has been “In Production” for at least a decade.

Doubtless this is the X-rated sequel to Shampoo?

They’re remaking “Kiki’s Delivery Service”? What the hell?

Although, some of those might end up being fun little movies to watch. Hell, there’s been a few sequels through the years that ended up being better than the original. (Or at least, just as entertaining.)

Others…Jurassic Park 4? Isn’t that the one where they were going to make the Raptors into super-soldiers, or something?

There’s only a simdgeon of those films listed that I’d actually want to see.

I’m excited about Rent, although they could so easily screw it up. The majority of those look just awful, though.
and, okay, Charlotte’s Web might be good.

but seriously… are there no writers out there who might appreciate a job working on a hollywood screenplay? have all the original ideas in the world already been written down and made into stories?

I might be interested in A-Team and Knight Rider movies. I’m definitely interested in X-Men 3, National Treasure 2, and The Bourne Ultimatum.

I’ve got their title: Star Trek: Let’s Squeeze a Few More Bucks Out of This Franchise Before We Shovel Dirt Onto Its Coffin.

Most of those projects are such terribly bad idea, just on the face of it. However, surely we’ll all be impressed by the narrative twists and turns that will once again require Martin Lawrence to dress up as an obese elderly woman.

Uh oh – The Incredible Shrinking Man is being directed by Keenan Ivory Wayans. Are they doing it as a comedy? Stupid bastards.

Well I’d see:

The A-Team
Aeon Flux
The Evil Dead (2 movies in production)
Flash Gordon
Harry Potter (3 movies in production)
Hellboy 2
Indiana Jones 4
Jurassic Park 4
King Kong
Miami Vice
National Treasure 2
The Passion of the Clerks
Pirates of the Caribbean (two movies)
The Producers
Shazam!
Shrek 3
The Simpsons
Sin City (2 movies)
Spider-Man 3
Superman Returns
The Transporter 2
Untitled Batman Begins sequel
Wonder Woman
X-Men 3

So there you go.

Wow. I admit, it couldn’t be worst than the first. And I actually wanted to make such a film. Why? Because I always felt it didn’t deserve to have such a bad entry as the first one. Of course, I would have cut out all the CGi and made it a low-budget affair.

There was a Highlander 4? I remember 3, which was actually alright but nothing special.

I have a number of them, but I don’t seriously expect that anyone would ever give me a chance to bring them to life. Why should I bother wasting my life desperately trying to write screenplays for ungrateful filmmakers?

Just wanted to toss out that ‘The Blob’ would be the THIRD remake.

There’s the original with Steve McQueen. Then the one in the 70s with the ice skating rink. Then one in the 80s where the writer of The Question got eaten.

You mentioned The Librarian 2. Is this a sequel to the TNT made-for-TV movie The Librarian: The Quest for the Spear? Or was there some other Librarian I don’t know about?

Flash Gordon deserves to be re-done in a manner more consistent with the source material.

I do like the early-80s movie, but there was a lot of weirdness about how the characters were played out. Max Von Sydow was a fantastic Ming. The evil folks in general were well done, IMHO, and had the better lines (" … now he showed promise.").

Brian Blessed’s Vultan was enjoyable, and could have served as effective comic relief. The problem was that most of the other good guys were even more laughable than Vultan – and not by intent, I don’t think.

In the comics, Flash was not so “aw shucks” and not so clueless. Zarkov, especially, was completely torn apart by the 1980 screenwriters – he’s not supposed to be a bumbling git on the edge of sanity. Zarkov is supposed to be a sharrp-as-a-tack cool customer, and is supposed to be more of an asset to Flash than just a plot-convenient human computer.

You could classify Flash Gordon as a remake but it did technically originate as a newspaper strip so one could attribute it to that source rather than to one of the serials, the TV show or the 1980 Sam J Jones version.

Rent is a stage musical, not a TV show or previous movie (although the show it’s from is loosely based on La Boheme which has been filmed a number of times so I guess you could sort of call it a remake).
