asahi, can you cut out the "Chicken Little" crap already?

I swear, if I see him overreact to yet another single poll, or go into a gibbering panic over this or that minor issue or event, I will scream. “Oh no! Trump is doing well in this one poll, The sky is falling!!” :smack:

If I didn’t know better, I’d swear that he’s a classic concern troll, able to hide it better than some of the others that we’ve had over the years, but determined to subtly sow fear, uncertainty, and doubt all over the board in the hearts of our resident liberals.

I’m beginning to hold the opinion that asahi works for the Republican Party. He has done little except attempt to spread doom, gloom, and despair. I certainly don’t hold his ability to pundit in high regard; he’s pretty useless.

There are any number of compulsive Eeyore’s on the left. Nothing dishonest about it, just an alignment of inherent pessimism and brutal reality.

Until the polls close in two weeks, there is still a chance that one of the least qualified, most dangerous possible candidates in history could end up in the Oval Office. That’s worth a little panic. If the words “President Donald Trump” don’t make you sit bolt upright in bed, in a cold sweat, you are either a moron or have SEAL-level crisis training.

Or, y’know, think that we’re equally fucked as a country no matter which one of the two “main” candidates gets elected.

I don’t get this. Lima beans and hepatitis are both horrible, but lima beans won’t get us into a nuclear war.

We’re fucked because around 40% of the population is programmatic morons who swallow every bite of bullshit they’re served. Which is understandable, because their olfactory centers quit when their brains rotted.

I see nothing Chicken Little about anything said. They went out of their way to try and calibrate the poll, and to point out that it almost certainly would not result in a Trump win.

asahi is anxious. They have every right to be. Personally, I dealt with it by taking time off. asahi deals with it by being on top of everything and anticipating the worst.

I absolutely do not like seeing people attacked for being anxious.

The you’re in the wrong forum.

I feel bad for asahi. He/she seems like a good egg, but I fear he/she is headed for an early heart attack. Can’t tell whether the doom is worse than the gloom! Just don’t ask him about the Nixon impeachment, though. Also, he/she isn’t the only one running into that forum (Elections) every time a new headline grabs one’s attention…

I assure you that here in the UK we are fervently hoping Hillary gets elected.
She’s got plenty of relevant experience and has sensible policies.
Of course we also know how bad Trump would be.

Yeah, the “equally fucked” meme is tiresome. HRC wouldn’t be my first choice, but she’ll be OK. More trigger happy than I prefer, but much less so than any Republican.

My personal Chicken Little fear is that Trump, with the help of Putin and others, will actually rig the election. His weeks of railing about how the election is rigged for Hillary is actually a ploy to prevent audits once he succeeds. Like “Oh, when I said it was rigged, you laughed at me, but when you lose…”

Personally, I like lima beans. We even have a lima bean yard sign.

And knowing that it’s almost certain that Mr. Trump will lose the election doesn’t make it certain. Sam Wang at the Princeton Election Consortium had his chances of losing at around a 97% chance, which is still one chance in 33, and Nate Silver’s got his chances of losing around 15%, which is a little bit better than one is six odds. There’s a reason Russian Roulette isn’t very popular, one is six is terrible odds if there’s serious consequences on the line.

You Brits are a bunch of capital-S Socialists who care about nonsense like refugees and health care and global warming. We in America are Exceptional and can’t possibly vote the way you would want us to. That would mean we’d have to give a shit about the rest of the world.
So yeah, I’m terrified of Trump and aghast that I live among his supporters. I support the sky-is-falling movement and might vote for Chicken Little.

Fuck. :frowning:

So much for the chicken in every pot promise!

he sounds like 90 percent of the electorate in America this election …

People have been bitchin for years about having boring election years and wished they were more exciting

Well they got what they wished for …

Nitpick: Rand Paul and… some other libertarian-leaning GOP candidate, assuming one exists, would be less trigger-happy.

I would be better to promise pot in every chicken.

A consistent and constant flow of anxious words is not necessarily something that should be accepted and respected if you truly respect the person from whom they come. At some point stepping in and saying “Ok, you should stop now” is good advice that should be heeded, not an ‘attack’.
