So you’ll be voting for Rabid Mongoose in 2020? ![]()
By this reasoning, Bernie Sanders must have been worse, too. Otherwise, he would have prevailed in the primaries.
I’m leaning towards COBRA.
Deez Nuts in 2020!
Holy shit!! Does no one see that THE SKY IS FALLING!!!
According to an article I read today on Fivethirtyeight, essentially the reason the race is tightening is that undecideds are deciding. Both Trump and Hillary seemed to have gained more support. The gap between them may be shrinking, but it’s also becoming more definitive. The margin for error is now smaller. Which, in a way, means we can be more confident in Hillary’s four-point lead than we were in her seven-point lead before the undecided voters made their choice.
I think I got that right.
Hooray for coalescence.
First up, honestly, thank you for answering. A multitude of folks drop wild-eyed positions, run like the wind, and never come back.
Second, no shock, we’re not going to agree. You did me the courtesy of answering, so I’m going to parse some of this. Some of this others have already answered.
I was a bit sparse overall in my specifics on why DJT is such a walking disaster, but his nuclear “policy” is one example. He has no understanding of history, military strategy or tactics, or international relations, or even the impact on climate of the use of nuclear weapons. I wasn’t referring the Wallace interview. Trumple has made numerous gaffes about nukes. Consider this gem, when asked about using nukes against ISIS by Chris Matthews:
The logistics of that statement alone boggle the mind. Drop a nuke on a terrorist organization? We have trouble with drone strikes. Where are you going to put that baby down exactly. You may not have issues with Trump’s “nuclear policy”, but it sure as hell concerns me.
Already handled on the thread.
Yes. Yes, I want a presidential candidate who claims to have a jobs program to be able to describe it. This is relevant in this situation when you are going to state that these two people are the same level of candidate.
(Referring to Putin above.) Yes, I have issues when Russia is aggressive in the Middle East and Europe. When they are interfering in the US election in ways seen and likely unseen, and the Orange One thinks that Putin is sunshine on toast. The next president will be dealing with a Russia that is moving into something very close to a Cold War posture. Tangerine Dream cannot be kissing his ass publicly. Not when we’re realistically already in armed conflict with them.
I’m getting from this that international relations and history isn’t really your passion. Do you feel that we (the US) are capable of dealing with ISIS alone? If everyone else turns around and walks off, and ISIS takes the Middle East, and cuts off all oil, do you really believe we’re handling that all by ourselves? Let alone the all of the other crises the modern world throws at us? Ebola, Zika, and the next thing. Without allies, it’s a big world and we’re fucked.
That is such a simplistic view of how to handle immigration, let alone over such a massive border that I’m going to let that one sit. Looking back though, I see that your comment was actually in response to my remark that he wants to expel 11 million immigrants as soon as he gets into office. Again, logistics, if nothing else. How are you going to identify, find, capture, contain, transport, try, and remove 11 million people? I believe this would be one of the largest diasporas of people in history. It would also have a tremendous impact on the debt. Not going to happen in the first week either.
This was you not caring that the Tan Man is inconsistent about ISIS and disrespectful towards the military. Moving on.
First up - didn’t ask you to tell me why Bill Clinton was going to be a bad president, because he’s not running.
We’re going to disagree on this one. She’s apologized for that and worked for years with people of color. She has overwhelming support from people of color. My family is mixed race. You have to go back a few generations to get to Black. Let’s keep it to the Latino side. They love her. I cannot say what is in her private heart. I can only say what we see.
I agree that Hillary has ties to Wall Street. She has also committed to Wall Street reform on the Party Platform. We’ll have to see how that plays out. I think the reality is that we’re a global economy. How do you walk that back? The ship left the dock with Nixon really. What I have seen her say, and Kaine say, is that they will make the best deals they can in a global economy, and not sign ones that don’t make sense.
I don’t see cites for your claims that she’s going to gut the social safety net, which is just thrown in here.
Disagree. Your cite is your that you believe this.
We/the US did not commit a coup. We refused to cut off humanitarian aid and negotiated new elections in a country that was clearly already troubled. Yes. That was terrible. Shame, shame.
Sit down for this one. I’m not on board with this. If she’s fine with fracking, she’s going to have problems with her base.
Bill is not the candidate. We’re discussing HILLARY. Keep practicing. You’ll get there.
Your source states that there is no evidence that Hillary was involved in the Haiti matter being discussed. For that matter, what the hell is your source? US UnCut?
Well, the “FBI block” news comes from a Trump spokesman, so I remain skeptical. I understand that there are pay to play worries. Despite persistent wikileaks over the last several months, I don’t think much has actually turned up. Maybe more would have been noticed if the Great Pumpkin could have kept his mind in the game.
Here are two links to watchdog organizations on the charity itself. Both are high. The Foundation itself does legitimate work.

I don’t think you’ve proved your case that the two are in anyway comparable disasters, but, again (sincerely) thank you for answering.
Clothy and company can’t stand her either, AFAICT.
I think you don’t like her, maybe hate her, and your perceptions are your reality.
I do wonder if you’ve really examined your politics though. You’ve got a fairly wide strip of right-wing running through there, no insult intended.
Excellent, excellent post, Sunny Daze. Had I but world enough, and time, I would have responded myself–and in a lot of ways the same way you did, only I expect you said it all better. Thank you.
Thanks in particular for pointing out the tendency many people have to treat Bill and Hillary Clinton as though they are the same person. It’s strange, given that they have, you know, two separate bodies and two separate brains, but to my mind it also carries a strongly misogynist implication: A woman can’t have an independent existence apart from her husband. I expect this attitude from folks on the far right. One of the disappointments to me about this election season is the degree to which I have seen it among those on the far left as well. I hadn’t expected that. I was wrong.
[Agreed also that US Uncut is a terrible source. I always figure anyone who cites it has already lost the argument. It’s like citing Breitbart. Either the story is out there in real journalistic publications, in which case use those sources; or it isn’t, in which case it’s probably a polemic that isn’t based on reality. I wish people who are left of center would quit focusing on it and similar cites–it damages our credibility. Oh well, pet peeve. Carry on.]
Thanks again.
That was from Aug. 11, and from yet another source not exactly considered laudable.

Fuckin Ballzzzzz 2020!
Well, shit, to be fair - I’m not liking all the redactions I’m seeing in too many of those documents
I don’t believe that Rabid Mongoose was even born in the United States.
That is exactly the problem with this type of analysis. While generic Republican might beat Chimera’s Clinton 9 times out of 10. The spot is going to have to be filled by and actual Republican who survived the nominating process.
Goddamn. I had some custom bumper stickers made up this last week while I was in the depths of serious illness and they weren’t too expensive. Posted on my FB page and several friends asked for them.
Now I’m considering springing for “Rapid Mongoose 2020” with the small disclaimer on the bottom saying “Paid for by Republicans for Rabid Mongoose 2020 Presidential committee”.
PAJoe raises a valid point though - Mongooses are ahem non-native. Would Rabid Weasel not work? Bombastic Ferret?
The other issue - you just know the source of the rabies was probably Mexico. When Mexico sends us their bats, they aren’t sending their best. They’re sending bats that have lots of problems. (Some, I assume, are good bats.)
PAJoeWould Rabid Weasel not work?
Let’s not perpetuate stereotypes.

Hey hey hey, you don’t know that Rabid Mongoose wasn’t born in this country to immigrant parents!

Mongooses(eseses )are are naturalized in Hawai’i. Take your anti-immigrant racism somewhere else!
