Ask the guy who just got a vasectomy.

People above were using frozen peas or corn. Each to his own I suppose.

Tell the doc to take out half an inch just to make sure.

I applied it internally, is all…

Did anyone else have a predictable reaction to a young hot nurse playing with your balls?

(Or was it just me…)

some tape keeps it out of the way.

Yeah but if you do it this way you don’t need the vasectomy anymore.

Barking Dog, the consult and procedure will happen on different days. Provably. I would guess most doctors do these on Fridays so you can heal over the weekend. Personally, I’d rather miss work than ruin a perfectly good weekend but my doctor only does them on Friday so I had no choice.

Actually, for those of you jumping on ACM, there’s now an outpatient procedure for female sterilization. I’ll be getting it sometime next year, most likely.

Essure

Yeah. Someone brought that up a week ago.

So I just had this done 2 days ago at Bethesda Naval Medical Center (I’m military).

Went for a class telling me about the procedure and it’s complications. They tell you about possible side effects and that you wont have any more babies etc… Pretty basic but required before they would even put you on the list for one. The list of guys waiting for one was around 150. The briefer said it would be 4-6 months to get it done because a) it’s elective so people with real problems (cancer and whatnot) have priority and b) the docs deploy alot so staffing goes up and down pretty regularly. They took our names and said that if there were last minute cancellations they would start calling guys from down the list to see if anyone wanted to come in at the last minute. This was 3 weeks ago.

Much to my surprise I got called last week and offered a slot for Tuesday so I took it.

Showed up at 2pm and they gave me 2 Valium and 2 Vicodin an hour before the procedure.

2:30 they took me back and a Corpsman prepped me (cleaned me up and whatnot, least pleasant aspect to be honest).

2:45 the doc came in and didn’t mess around. At first I was skeptical because it was a Navy CDR who was hacking me up and those Navy dudes aren’t the sharpest  (I’m an AF officer and I work for 2 USN CDRs)

Anyway he turned out to be excellent. I got a shot in the left side of my sack, he cut a hole, yanked the tube out and what not, cut off a section about 1/2 inch long, burned the ends and sewed me up. The cutting and needle didn’t hurt much but the manipulation of my balls and tugging was uncomfortable. The right side got cut and he had a tougher time getting a hold on the tube etc… He said it was common for the second side to be more difficult because the balls contract up after the 1st one because your body knows what’s going on. That side was mildly painful. He sewed me up and was done with the actual procedure in about 20 minutes.

I got up, put on my briefs with some gauze packed in for support and my wife drove me home.

I never bled one drop after the procedure. My balls feel okay, though my sack has some bruising.

I was sitting at my desk 12 hrs later at work for an 8hr meeting I had to be at and was fine, if a little uncomfortable. Took off today though.

It’s 2 days after and I’m still walking funny and feel somewhat like I got kicked in the junk, though not severely. I was given 6 Tylenol with Codine pills and never had to take any. I’ve taken a few Ibuprofens. I never even iced my sack.

All in all things went exceedingly well and I’m doing well. I guess those USN guys know what they are doing.

2 weeks without ejaculating though. That will be a challenge. Longest time since I was 12 I think…

it’s the hardest challenge you will ever face in life.

 Was this a doctor’s instruction? Mine just told me to hold off until I felt comfortable. That only lasted a few days.

I watched my husbands’ vasectomy with great fascination while having my 4 month old daughter on my hip. Our second child, with me knowing without a doubt that I didn’t want anymore - he wasn’t so sure, but went through with it anyway. About 24 hrs after his procedure his balls started swelling up like grapefruits! They were bright pink, huge, and sore. He was miserable to say the least. It turned out that he was allergic to the topical antibiotic.
His baboon testicles did go back to normal within a couple of days however. In retrospect it wasn’t really necessary for him to get one since our sex life pretty much went south shortly afterward. We are now separated and I am currently trying to catch up on the “dry spell.”

-tdn…yes, some insurances do pay for it. Ours did. I think that without insurance it may have been around $1,500…good luck.

Oh c’mon! It’s just 2 weeks… suck it up dude…
