pashley quoted a letter as saying:

Yeah, real beautiful TRACER.
Here I am, trying to reach my hand out, and you throw garbage like that in my face. Thanks.
Esprix, do you have a take on this? Is it wrong for somebody to come back to God, and live a life they feel is better now because they follow God? I’m not talking just Homosexuals, it could be alcoholics or drug users as well.
Thanks Tracer.

I’ll take a stab at these.
Yikes! This is a simple question with no simple answer. We explored this topic on the snopes board. It ended because tempers ran very high on this subject, and flame wars broke out.
Keep in mind that by the phrasing of your question, you imply that all men are rapists. Not true. Most men, I would venture, are not. And some women are.
But what is the primary motivation for rape? Some will say that it is an act of violence, not an act of lust. This is sort of tired old rhetoric. In many cases the motivation is lust and nothing more. In some cases, the only motivation is to hurt and humiliate. Are we talking about a less-than-bright individual who doesn’t understand what “no” means? Or a prison rape? These are very different things.
Let’s assume that we’re talking about a garden variety hetero violent rape between strangers. I would guess that a deep seated insecurity is at work here. The rapist has most likely been humiliated by women in his past (possibly by his mother?) and has control issues. Of course, I am over simplifying here, but that’s the best answer I can give you.
Are we? I’m not. Best answer I can think of: We’re just interested in sex. Period. Why are so many women interested in the sex lives of others?
Oh, good, an easy one!
It’s not a sex question, it’s one of mathematics. Double your pleasure, double your fun. On the surface, these women aren’t being lesbians, they both want to have sex with me. That strokes my ego. It’s a terrific turn on.
Anal sex has never been a turn on for me, although it doesn’t disghust me, either. But rephrasing your question may shed some light on this: “why do so many straight men, who profess disgust at gay men kissing, want to kiss their wives/girlfriends?” It’s not that difficult to figure this one out.
I hope this helps.
pashley: You’re welcome.
Since you seem to have trouble grasping it, this is from Merriam-Webster:
Esprix, who thought Boomer was getting better, not worse…
The following is my opinion:
The preponderance of evidence is that a person cannot change their sexual orientation by any means. Those that do claim to be able to change it do so not on the basis of legitimate psychological treatment, but on Christian fundamentalism. The conclusion I make is that these people have not changed their orientation, but are rather repressing it, and acting contrary to it (not to mention the fact that the “reversion” rarely sticks for any length of time).
Now, some ex-gays will fully admit to this, that they are still homosexually oriented, but, through God, they can resist their temptations and live a fully functional heterosexual life. And any mental health professional will tell you this is one of the most psychological damaging things a person can do to themselves.
HOWEVER, the bottom line is that, no matter how much I think someone is hurting rather than helping themselves, there is nothing I can do about it, and they have every right and freedom to live as they see fit. If they truly feel that becoming “ex-gay” by turning themselves over to the will of God/Christ/whoever will make them happy, I may disagree with them, and even feel sad for them, but I will accept that is the way they choose to live their life, and will do nothing to stop them.
Seems the way we view each other is kind of the same, only opposite.
And as far as AA/recovery goes, which is hardly comparable to sexual orientation, the physical and psychological dependency is only broken by being replaced with something else equally as strong that supports the will to get past that dependency. I think all people have it in themselves to do so, but most need something to grab on to, and if it’s AA, then so be it. Historically the program has worked, and although I have problems with the heavy Christian influence, I cannot deny that it works for people. Not currently recovering from anything, I cannot speak with any authority, however.

Hey, I just noticed something. Pashley, how come the title of this thread has the word straight in quotes?
Kinda makes one wonder…
Esprix, who really needs more to do at work
Two points and I’ll scurry out:
Andros kicked much ass in the earlier part of this thread.
Esprix, I think Calif’s post was intended to be ironic as well.

No, his post was meant to be sarcastic and baiting. Have you read any of his other “enlightened” posts?

According to pashley-
It’s obvious, pashley, that you’ve never owned a pair. Boobs are a huge responsibility. You have to restrain them with brassieres. If you are trying to squeeze past someone sideways, you can’t suck them in, which means they either bump against the other person, or you risk injuring them on the doorjamb. And try dealing a jammed up craps game and having to try to keep them out of the boxman’s way when you’re leaned over the table paying bets and he needs to hand you out a stack of twenty-five dollar chips…
Plus, for a week out of every month, they hurt like hell.
Fun, my ass.

Well, they’re fun for “straight” men - does this mean “straight” men are also selfishly uncaring about their female sexual partner’s problems? Hmmm…
And you should probably ask The “Straight” Guy if your ass is fun.

Sorry to hear that, but … doesn’t this vary widely from woman to woman? None of my former girlfriends ever mentioned having menstrual ta-ta aches.
At this time, I would like to take the opportunity to distance myself from this “straight guy” as the Christians wisely have. For the record, I don’t know pashley, no one I know knows pashley and nor would we want to. The views of the “straight guy” should in no way be interpreted to apply to straight guys at large.
Voted most likely to ramble on inanely - I hope I’ve not taken someone else’s title ‘cause as far as I know I just made that up and I wouldn’t want to make anyone mad at me or anything like that and all ya’ know.

You brown noser!
Hey, tolerance for others is damn sexy. You might want to take into account the deletrious effect some of your “homo jokes” may have had on your sexual desirability. All is not lost, though; talk to Esprix about joining a gay rights organization today!
Oh, we know that. If I thought every straight guy and Christian was like Pashley, I’d have probably moved to Chelsea by now and never poke my head past the Village again.
