Asking a favor here.

Prayers for a speedy and effective recovery with no complications. That your mom, you, and y’all’s family and friends give each other strength, comfort, and humor. That all the physicians and caregivers perform their duties to the best of their abilities. And generally that everything goes well.

Excellent news! Best wishes still headed your way.

You’ve only got one mum, Jenny. I know she’ll go from strength to strength. Some positive karma being sent to both of you from the other side of the globe tonight.

I just saw this now. I’m glad to hear that the surgery went well and I hope that things continue to go well for you and your family as she recovers.

I’ll keep praying.

More supporting thoughts heading your way.

Glad the surgery went well. Here’s hoping for continued good news, Tuba.

Sending positive thoughts your way.

We were able to bring my mother home last night.

She has a couple of months of recovery ahead of her – at the least – but she’s doing pretty good for someone who has had this huge abdominal surgery and etc.

Thanks again to all of you who send good thoughts and positive intentions, who put us on your prayer lists. It means a lot to me. I’m convinced she would not have done as well as she has had so far without your support.

Hope this finds all of you well and happy.

Jenny

Good to hear that she is home. Best wishes for a strong recovery.

Thanks very much for the update. All the best to you and your family.

Sounds like a great start. Best wishes continued in your family’s direction.

Jim

I’m offering prayers for her continued recovery. Take care.

Jenny, I was out of town when you originally posted this and I missed it. I’m glad your mom is doing ok, I hope things keep getting better.

I’m pretty sure there isn’t much one ugly guy can do from a few states away, but if there is, let me know.

Not sure how I missed this the first time around. Good to hear she’s on the mend, Jenny.

Now get back to work.

Hi TubaDiva,

How is your mom making out and how are you holding up?

Jim

Tuba,

I am having to pray backwards in time. But, it seems to be working.

Thanks for sharing your joy, and for trusting us with your worry.

Tell your mom we care.

Tris

I hadn’t seen this thread before.

We went through something similar when I was finishing high school - Mom spent 8 months in bed except for trips to the bathroom, in excruciating pain; then she saw a doctor who diagnosed just based on how she walked and scheduled her for surgery the next day because we were from out of town (if we’d been from town, it would have been that same afternoon). Another three weeks in bed, the last one complaining that she wanted out; then months just relearning to walk and grasp things; the first time she left the house after the surgery and not to go to the doctor was a bright, warm Easter Tuesday when bars set up their terraces for the first time that year. I had social problems because I didn’t drink coffee (people just find that unbelievable, they’d keep asking me “are you sure?”), so she decided I had to get used to it and gave me the first sip of her frozen coffee. OOPS! We’re talking about espresso-strength coffee, frozen and semi-melted; the first sips are the strongest. I got tunnel vision. I was looking straight into her eyes and would see two black circles and a bit of brown ring. After a few minutes we figured it was getting better and, after paying, we headed home, which thankfully was only about 200 yards away; the cripple leaning on and leading the blind… Coffee? No thanks! For years after that I couldn’t even smell mocha cakes without getting all aflutter. By June she was fine, better than she had been in years.

I hope your mother’s recovery is as swift or swifter and as total as Mom’s and that nobody gets tunnel vision  At home we kid that if I want to narrow my sights, all I need is an espresso…
