Another lipless wonder with a neck beard. I’m going out on a limb here and suggest that he was stupid enough to think that there is some link between someone being Asian or of Asian descent, and guilt or blame for Covid. I know, I’m making a preliminary judgment without a lot of evidence, but prima facie it sure looks likely to me.
According to The Atanta Journal-Constitution, the murderer was driving a Hyundai when he was arrested. Kind of odd choice for someone targeting Asians.
He targeted massage parlors, which might mean whorehouses, or might not. Either way, I think he might just have been your run-of-the-mill embittered incel uber-woman-hater. “Asian” massage parlors seem immensely popular – I don’t know why – one common notion is that Asian women are commonly imported to the United States and trafficked into sleazy “massage” work. Maybe it’s just incidental that his victims were Asian?
Maybe they laughed at the size of his penis. Like in the movie Unforgiven.
Or it could be domestic terrorism.
More likely a mental health/sexual motivation. Preliminary statements indicate he was a frequent customer with a self diagnosed sexual addiction and wanted to “eliminate temptation.”
Yeah, this looks more incel than racist. It’s not the Asian community that is specifically the target of a terrorist attack; it’s women.

First pics showed him with a scraggly beard. Later photos have him shaven and much more cleaned up. Wonder if one his buddies in blue gave him a trim while he waited for his Burger King.

I’d much rather the narrative be, “It 100% doesn’t matter if the murder victims were massage therapists, sex workers, or any other profession. What matters is that they were humans who were murdered.”
It sure looks like he’d taken our society’s misogynistic and internalized-shame attitudes toward sex workers and turned them into a murderous rage.
So… another out-of-control White dude goes on a rampage and kills people because he has the problem but somehow killing other people is going to “solve” this for him…?
It’s possible to be both incel and racist. Or sex-addicted and racist, with a fetish for Asian women thrown in. Or not. Still early in the news cycle.
And I agree - what the victims did or didn’t do for a living should be completely irrelevant. They were human beings who were murdered.
Absolutely. And we don’t want to have this somehow taken over by those who’d say the problem is the workplace and not the hate.
Perhaps he was violently disappointed that the Asian-run massage parlors didn’t live up to the stereotype.
That may be a larger part of it than most folks would think. Suburban Atlanta is not Vientiane.
Meh, I think it’s a kid who was raised in an oppressive religious household around a lot of guns and violent ideation. AFAIK, none of my k-12 classmates ever turned into mass murderers, but I did go to school with plenty of kids who were fucked up in the head living in a religious dictatorship, where shame and physical abuse were used as methods of manipulation.
It seems to me, from what I’m hearing, that this is a killer whose religion teaches him that sexuality outside of a very narrowly-defined range is a sin against God, and that wicked worldly people will tempt him into damnable behavior, and that this cultish religion twisted him until he engaged in terroristic violence against those wicked worldly people.
It’s absolutely a hate crime; it’s absolutely terrorism. I’m less clear on whether it’s specifically racist terrorism.
Assuming all this is accurate, it’s a shame we can’t declare whatever organization or sect he and his parents adhere to as a terrorist organization akin to Al Qaeda or the Proud Boys.

In one of his letters, he said, “I am down on whores, and I shan’t quit ripping them until I do get busted.”
The problem with that is that is that said sect probably doesn’t actually condone killing people because you lust after them. The Proud Boys and Al Qaeda are explicitly violent organizations.
It’s very possible the murderous part is a sect of one. Or that the murderous part isn’t from the religion, but from certain incel forums.
