Attention Netflix - I'm not a moron

I really, really like you Netflix. When I quit my job and took a 50% pay cut, you were one of the few luxury items I kept. We’ve been together for over five years. I appreciate that you continue to innovate. For example, I love your streaming movie feature.

However…

I like to know what movies are newly available. So I check in every couple of days on the “new movies” section of your website. A few are added every day or two, but it’s hard to figure out what’s really new because you don’t seem to understand the concept of making a fucking LIST!!!

No, no. Can’t just make a list. New movies should obviously to be in a gallery view that changes order every time I look at it, so I have no way of knowing what’s really new and what’s not. Now I happen to know that “Mr. Holland’s Opus” is NOT a new movie I can stream. It was new two weeks ago, but it isn’t now. And putting it back on page 1 of new movies won’t persuade me otherwise, or convince me I really need to watch it.

On the other hand, I had no idea that a classic like “House Party 3” was at long last available for streaming. Why? Because I never saw it on page 1. It’s on page 8. Maybe I really want to watch “House Party 3”. But I’d never find it unless I specifically search for it, which of course most people will for a film of such caliber.

Randomly shuffling around your new movies is stupid. I don’t know about your other, dimmer customers - the kind who won’t go to the trouble of searching for the wonderful House Party sequels - but I don’t have the memory capacity of a goldfish. I see what you’re doing. Cut it out!

Here’s a link to the “old” new releases page. Enjoy.

It gets updated sometime between Saturday night and Sunday morning.

These words all appear to be English (along with the use of a Western Arabic counting system). And yet, put together, they make no sense whatsoever.

I’m struggling with the idea that Mr Holland’s Opus and House Party 3 are new movies in any sense at all.

“newly available” != “new”

I use that new releases link too, because yes I like to actually know what’s new. Unfortunately it’s new releases on disc, and may or may not have any relation to what’s available for instant viewing.

Additionally, while we’re ranting, I have a secondary queue, and my husband’s is the “main” one. That means that I have to switch over to his login in order to see what’s available for instant viewing. I cannot see it on my own queue. So there might be movies I want to see that we can watch through our Roku box, but I’ll never know unless I’m logged in as him. Just a nuisance, but man would that enhance useability.

No offense intended to the OP, but I’m moving this from The BBQ Pit to Cafe Society.

It’s very easy, Click “New Releases” under Browse DVDs, then click “See All” under the category you are interested (Popular for all releases the option is at the top right corner), and at the top left there is the options “Gallery View” and “Sortable List.”

Click Sortable list and you can sort by release date.

So simple you even missed it…

That’s not the same as the page linked to by AllShookDown, which in one page shows the new releases for the current week. As he/she said, it’s updated between Saturday night and Sunday morning. It’s useful for updating my queue so that the stuff to be released on Tuesday is at the top of the list. (For that reason, I try to return movies so that they are received on Monday morning, and they ship me the newest movies for Tuesday delivery.)

They don’t always make it easy to find streaming content.

Fawlty Towers and Monty Python’s Flying Circus are available by streaming, but they don’t appear on the British TV Comedies genre page.
