You don’t seriously think that’s just my “gimmick”, do you? You don’t think it’s just the way my mind happens to work, that I happen to be good at trivia, and words, and I like looking stuff up?
There have been a number of pittings revolving around Dopers who, for whatever reason, have been notorious for being annoying. Some of these pittings I agreed with, but so often, my personal solution was “skim, skim, skim”. No offense Flam, but there was no way in HELL I was going to read your complete personal life story. So I didn’t. Simple. I skip a lot of people’s threads. And they skip mine. It’s no big deal.
Like someone else said, it is easy to ignore someone else if you are not interested in what they have to say. Not that I am “ignoring” Flam—she seems likeable enough to me. But I can easily find that “back” button when confronted with a long-winded life story (or anything else that I does not interest me).

Gimmick or no, Duck Duck Goose, in my esteemed opinion it makes you one of the most valuable and interesting posters on the board. I never skip any post of yours that I see.
