Just found out that Salman Rushdie, author of Midnight’s Children, The Moor’s Last Sigh, and the notorious Satanic Verses will be appearing at Book Passage in Corte Madera, on Saturday, September 28th, at 1:00 PM, which is almost directly across the street from where I live. Directions are available through their website.
I, for one, am all aquiver with excitement about this. Rushdie is easily my favorite author with a price on his head, and I can’t wait to see him. Thought some other BADs might be interested in seeing him speak, and I hope to see one or two of you there.
Well, I suppose it could be a Dopefest. Assuming anyone else is interested in Salman Rushdie. I’ll be there; if at least one other Doper shows up, I guess you could call it a Dopefest.
Rushdie is cool, if somewhat egotistical, and I love his books. I hope you get to meet him. He’s nothing if not interesting. Please ignore Logical Phallacy (actually that’s good advice in general on this board).
What? No makeshift bunker against shrapnel?
Still living on the edge, eh Miller? Thought you’d have learned your lesson after that business with the Turkish leopard smuggler. "
Never get involved with a woman who smuggles anything more savage than you are" I said.
Di you listen? Noooo!
That’s why you wound up running down the streets of Kathmandu stark naked with a rose between your teeth, pursued by Furies.
:smack:
You never learn…
No, Bosda, what you said was “Never eat anything bigger than your head,” which kept me from devouring that 1/20th scale replica of the Taj Mahal contructed entirely out of butter. I still owe you one for that. You remained mute on the leopard smuggling, but that turned out okay, until I ran out of anti-hystamines. But hey, who could’ve seen that coming?
