DENVER (APBnews.com) – It seemed so sexy and glamorous and fun, authorities say: the car sent to pick young women at their homes and the girlish chatter about slinky new bedroom outfits they’d see at an upscale lingerie show.

But it was a ploy calculated to deliver the women into the clutches of an armed rapist, police say.
And people wonder why some women aren’t all chatty and nice in public. This time it was a WOMAN who lured the victims. Awful

Zette

Scary. I’d sure as hell be suspicious when this woman showed up to pick me up alone, if not before that time. If it’s a lingere show, why is she only taking one person there?

I would be very leary if some strange woman offered to pick me up at my house and take me to a lingerie show. Unless it was a friend of mine, I wouldn’t go. You have to be very cautious about everything you do these days. Pretty sad.

I hope that this “woman” (and I use the term loosely in this particular case) co-perpetrator is convicted and given equal or greater punishment than the rapist. She is a traitor to all womanhood.

I used to bemoan the fact that the rotten apples amongst the menfolk had made it so difficult to meet women. Now this miscreant turns upon her own sex and doubles the difficulty for us decent guys.

In male lockdowns, rapists are given special attention (as are child molesters). I can only hope that the women’s prison community will make a special effort to ensure that this treacherous vaginal cavity’s stay is especially miserable.

Thanks for posting this disturbing article Zette. At least I won’t have to wonder why it’s so hard to meet women anymore.

Oh come on… I was reading this story last week, and yes, the people who thought it up are bad people and need to be stopped. But what woman in her right mind would agree to go to a lingerie party that some random stranger on the street invited her to? And not only that, it’s not at a public place or a lingerie store, but a location to be determined, and we’ll pick you up? I’m not blaming the victim here, but anyone with half a grain of common sense wouldn’t get in the car. Isn’t this the same rule as “don’t take candy (or get in cars) with strangers”?

Rapists and child molesters?

Shudder

Death. Now. No pity, No appeal.

Amen, VB.

Athena, you are dead nuts wrong on this one. And, yes, you are blaming the victims here. As poor as their collective judgement was, these predators are where the focus belongs. I just wish I could focus the attentions of a baseball bat (first for purposes of insertion, then for more conventional application) on these two fucknuggets.

Ever heard of Karla Homolka and Paul Bernardo?

Homolka was the wife of Bernardo, one of Canada’s most notorious serial rapists / murderers. They were quite the team and Homolka assisted Bernardo in obtaining his victims and participated in the depravity. They video taped their crimes and they show Homolka as an active participant in the rapes. Paul did the killing and Homolka helped him in the disposition of the bodies. She had ample opportunity to save one of the victims but did nothing.

The first victim was Karla’s younger sister, Tammy. This rape and murder occurred before Karla and Paul were married.
Leslie Mahaffey (14) was dismembered after being brutally raped and abused.
Kristen French’s (15) body was dumped very close to the body of Leslie Mahaffey after she was similarly tortured, raped, and murdered. Karla had every opportunity to let Kristen escape but did nothing.

Homolka was sentenced to twelve years for manslaughter after making a deal with the Crown to act as a witness against her then husband. The Crown did not have the video tapes when this deal was struck, if they had the charges against Homolka would have been for murder and her chances of parole slim. She is presently up for parole although it looks like she will serve her full twelve years.

I read information on this and many paint Homolka as a victim, she is fairly attractive and it would even seem she has some “fans”. I think she is a sick sociopath who is no better and possibly even worse than her husband.

She should never be released. This case makes me think that the death penalty could sometimes be a good idea and many Canadians would be happy to be the ones pulling the switch.

This, from the article:

Why the rush? Why not wait a few more weeks to let women know there is a predator on the loose? If they had waited, I bet they could have built up a bunch more counts and made the case even stronger. Sheesh.

Zenster - no one is absolving the criminals or blaming the victims. It’s just that common sense and vigilance on the part of potential victims is often the only thing that keeps them from being the victim.

Amen.
And, what Padeye said too.

And I thought I could be blindingly stupid. No, the victims did not deserve what happened. The evil sick people who made this happen deserve something else entirely. (Sterilization with a rusty spoon, perhaps? We can use alcohol to keep everything clean, right?)

Still, keep on your toes folks, only you can make yourself a victim.

None of the victims said anything about the woman participatin in the rape in the article. One thing pops out in my mind though. What if this woman is in an abusive relationship and has been threatened. A large amount of abused women do not know how to leave the man abusing them. Perhaps (don’t flame me, please)she is being forced to do this by him, otherwise face the same treatment herself. The strive for survical is strong, and perhaps she is thinking of herself and her well-being.

Ladies, we MUST keep ourselves safe. Don’t be stupid, use your head.

I am not blaming the victims at all, but we as a group must do better, maybe. I hate to tell people not to be friendly or trusting, but then you hear something like this. I think I saw something about that Canadian woman on A&E, and it gave me chills. Our psycho tag team rapists/torturers/murderers in CA were both males.

Don’t go to some guy’s hotel room if you don’t know him, even if he’s famous (Mike Tyson, anyone?). Don’t get in cars with strange guys you met at a club, especially if you’ve been indulging in whatever substance floats your boat. Never leave your drink unattended in a bar, and never accept a drink offered by a stranger (know a girl who got drugged- woke up raped & her two front teeth knocked out).

These things are no joke. Makes me kind of glad I’m married & boring (that is, until the psycho breaks into my house or carjacks me…)

I can’t believe how much scoffing and resistance a statement like this gets when I make it. I once had a bartender get snotty with me because I took my drink with me when I made a trip to the restroom. Well sorry if I offended you or your bar or your regular barflies but get used to it. Some people are so cautious that they only order bottled beer and ask for the opener so they can open it themselves. This is not about being vain and thinking everyone wants to have sex with you, it’s about rapists having no conscience and a powerful tool. It’s not about being attractive or even FEMALE either. In one case where the rapists were caught two women were with two other men when they were drugged and raped. The men were drugged too so they’d be out of the way. ::shudder::

VV, I totally agree. I didn’t ever care until I got wind of the “date rape” type drugs. Scary shit! I would never leave a drink unattended, and I’ve already cautioned my 12 year old neice about it (as she’s going to dances and such now).

The think about the OP is that a WOMAN lured these ladies. How could she do such a thing? To be raped? Good God!
