I know there’s a reasonably strong contingent of poker players here, but I’m not sure if all of you read the Two Plus Two Publishing forums where this is being discussed.
Two poker sites have organised tournaments in which over 50% of the prize pool will be donated to the American Red Cross for the relief effort. These are Poker Stars and Paradise Poker. The Paradise Poker tournament is on Tuesday 6 September at 8pm Eastern Time, and the Poker Stars tournaments are on 12 September and 14 September.
In addition to putting on the tournament, Paradise have set up a donation account, ‘katrinahelp’, and have pledged to match all funds in this account (so if you donate $20, $40 will go the A.R.C.
If you do not have an account at Paradise, please use the following link to sign up: Paradise Poker. This way, all of the profits from your sign up will go to the relief effort (as well as encouraging Paradise to continue acting charitably like this). NOTE: There is no profit in this link for me.
Read more about these Katrina Relief Tournaments, and find out about any more as they are announced, in the Internet subforum at Two Plus Two poker forums.
