I bought a bottle of this at the Providence Airport.
So, if I am to make this coffee milk concoction, what kind of milk tastes best? Whole? Lowfat? Nonfat?
Or is it so vile that I will be wondering how Rhode Island was allowed into the United States?
As an aside, on my trip I recently, I discovered that my cell phone service, which was supposed to be good in all 50 states didn’t work anywhere in the Ocean State.
Oh how I miss that “coffee, regular” (cawfee, regyuhluh) with milk and cream. I too have a 6-year-old bottle of Autocrat syrup in my fridge, which I presume will expire at some point.
I’ve been here six years and counting and I haven’t had coffee milk. I did give birth to a native, however, and will start him on it soon. Does it have caffeine?
Autocrat is the epitome of all that is truly wrong with the state of Rhode Island. And I say this with the full knowledge that my beloved Valkyrie, born in Warwick, reads these threads on a regular basis. She and her sister visited Providence last year and picked up a bottle each of the stuff at the State House gift shop. It’s only about a third empty now, and has been quietly occupying a space in the fridge ever since.
Okay, I have a real live Rhode Islander visiting me, so I asked her “What’s a milkshake?” She promptly replied “Milk mixed with Autocrat syrup and shaken.” Further, this delightful creature brought me two jars of stuffed cherry peppers, one sweet and one hot, so all my RI culinary needs are currently fulfilled.
They’ve let it out of RI, you know. I bought some of it by accident one night last summer, thinking it was chocolate milk. It wasn’t until I took a sip of it and thought “Gack! Did someone put out a cigarette in my chocolate milk?” that I realized that I’d grabbed the wrong bottle in my haste to leave the store. <shudders>
