I should be able to make Feb 13th. And Lightnin’, you’ve eaten there enough times…if you want, I can take your order and mail it to you. I picked up a bunch of manila envelopes from Office Depot a while back, it’d be no big thing.
Lil’ Bump.
So, Feb 13 (Sun) at Chuy’s around, what, 8? (I kind of want to avoid the rush hour driving).
Lightnin’ - Ever since I moved down here from MI, I miss good Chinese food being delivered to my apt. Mmm. There are very, very few good Chinese places here, and none of them deliver to me.
Date and place are fine, but what say we change up the time? Typically in the past we’ve met around lunch time, that way people from out of town who still like to come up and join us (like Houston and San Antonio) can still come, and drive back afterwards to be home in time to get enough sleep for the next day. And Sunday, you shouldn’t have to deal much with rush hour traffic, just Church traffic (which could be just as bad, but eh…).
So, how’s about a 2:00 p.m. late lunch? Should give the Church-goers time to finish up and get home, and the out of towners enough time to show up and get home early enough. Anyone else got a suggestion?
I can’t make the 13th. I work for the Ice Bats and we have a game that day.
2 sounds good to me.
Now, which Chuys? There’s one on Lamar, right?
I don’t know if there’s one on Lamar, but typically we meet at the Barton Springs Chuy’s. There’s also one up on North 183. Those are the two I know of.
The one on Barton Springs is the one and only.
Just a note about the 13th: That’s the day for the Motorola Marathon. Although the race doesn’t go by Chuy’s, anyone trying to come in other than via I-35 or MoPac is likely to get caught up in traffic.
Looking at my own link, I’m thinking that Chuy’s on the 13th at 2 o’clock is a bad idea. The marathon finishes at Auditorium Shores with the last stragglers due in at 3 o’clock. Chuy’s is likely to be more packed than normal.
Hmmm…I was thinking of flying down to Austin to suprise my girlfriend for V-day…so I might make it to the gathering! 'Course, I don’t know that I want to expose her to you people, and that is way too far in advance for me to be planning. I’ll keep it in mind though.
So . . . what time would be better?
And where is Barton Springs? I’ve been to the mall once, many many years ago. Before I could drive.
Barton Springs is a nice little road where Zilker Park is located in South Austin. Easiest way to get there from I-35 is to exit Riverside, head West, then head South on BArton Springs. Or, you can just come straight off of Mopac, but I can’t remember the exact exit (I want to say Westlake Hills, but I’m not all too sure).
If the marathon is going to cause problems there, like I said, there is another Chuy’s up off of 183 North that should be easy to get to, and free of any marathon congestion, so we can still keep the venu, just change the location. Ahhh, the joy of chains.
Well, I’d rather not drive all the way to South Austin (I live right at the northern edge). I’ll go down there if everyone else wants to, but I’d prefer something more central-ish. Can we do the 183 Chuy’s instead?
That would work just fine for me.
So it’s the one at 11680 N Research?
I think my trusty bike and poosibly a bus or two will get me there.
Is there any chance in hell that we could move this shin-dig to Saturday the 12th?
Bump
I typically work on Saturday’s, but plan on calling in sick on the 12th, so that would work for me. Assuming I’m not still drunk or too hung over
I kinda like the Saturday as well. But the Sunday afternoon would be ok too. The location wouldn’t matter too much for me.
Saturday works for me.
The day doesn’t matter to me, I just have to request it off sometime this week.
So, Saturday Feb 12th at the Chuy’s by 183. Still 2pm? Maybe 4?
