I’m new to the dope, but loving it so far. Only negative is it wastes hours of my time on circular divergences of personal research missions from nearly every thread I read in GQ!!! Also i feel dumber when i see the depth and breadth if knowledge of some of these guys and girls that post. Some smart cookies out there.
Anyway, obviously the board is pretty US-centric most of the time, but thought I’d do a roll call for how many aussies are regular here? I’ve seen a few references in recent threads, and user **Melbourne **is a likely candidate!
So how many of us are out there, and where you from? I’m in Perth. Hiding inside from the sun right now, meant to be digging holes in the garden but don’t think so in this weather with a 2nd day hangover.
Technically I’m a New Zealander, but I’ve lived in Melbourne since 1999 (with a one year detour to Sydney), and joined the SDMB the same year. As I sometimes will speak for both countries, I think there are regulars here who still don’t know where I live.
It so happens that not too far from Ottawa, Ontario, the capital of Canada, there is a town called Perth. If you draw a line from Perth, Ontario, straight through the middle of the earth, you come out in the Indian Ocean. The largest city near that location is Perth, Australia.
I’m not from Perth, or even from Australia, but I have been to Perth a number of times. I think I still have a Transperth pass with a few rides left on it.
Very nice city, and I hope to return to it someday.
Good representation from my part of the country, but nobody from Brisbane or further north? I hope that’s not because Melbourne is the worlds most boring city? Tell me it isn’t so…
Hi Melbourne, Brisbane here! Welcome to the board, Richo. I check in just about every day to see what the smartest and hippest people on the planet are up to.
Well, they’re pretty smart, but maybe not the hippest anymore!
I was a born and bred Brisbanite up until two months ago, when my wife and I moved to the UK. We’ve just settled into a new flat in Stratford, London, but I still consider Australia home.
