Australia roundup

Wow.

What ‘social protections’ are you talking about?

You must be an Aus Citizen to work for the Public Service.

You must be an Aus Citizen to be entitled to vote.

Cite?

Never?

I just LOVE this old meme…but like all memes, it gets really old really quickly.

Well, you know what they say, if ya don’t like it here…:stuck_out_tongue:

We could just collectively ignore that thing until it gives up and goes away, like it apparently did in the 90s.

Cool! I’ve been to Queenscliff. It’s pretty. And the fish and chips were delicious.

Welll, I’ve been keeping it a secret, and not many realise that I am actually from Down Under also.

Melbourne.

With a name like Wallaby? Who’da thunk it?

are you a brush wallaby or a scrub wallaby? or, god-forbid, some other kind of wallaby?

Swamp.

I work with quite a few Kiwis who also complain about changes to our ‘special’ relationship. Funnily enough, they stay here.

Fascinating - we used to visit a great aunt who lived in St Leonards back in the 80s, and I have memories of the FnC in Queenscliffe being awesome - but I’ve not tried it again since then. Heading to Fairhaven tomorrow, perhaps I should make a small detour…

St Leonards and Fairhaven…yep! Queenscliffe (sic) and the FnC?? Not so much!

Are we on the same Melways Map GFM??

Quick, someone tell the Dept. Of Immigration he’s a bikie! :stuck_out_tongue:

Canberra here as well,

Mackay , Qld here.

Ah no, I live in the inner north of the CBD, just visiting a friend’s beach house for a few days. Will take a recommendation for the best FnC around though!

Kirribilli Seafoods.

You give me ear worms.

Queenscliff is still pretty damned good…the store on the pier being the best.

Speaking of inner-north Melb, many years ago we had an Aussie Doper get-together in a cafe in Brunswick St Fitzroy…the one on the corner of Cecil St (appropriately). Most of those SDMB members have fallen by the wayside now, but a few of us are still hanging around like bad smells (Waves at Eliahna)

I’m another Aussie! Spent the first half of my life in Hawthorn, Melbourne Vic and the second half (so far) in Japan. Same time-zone (more or less), but opposite seasons.

That’s not a waribashi. This is a waribashi!

From Melbourne here, but started out in country NSW so I can bag Victorians when it suits me, even though I’ve been here 30 years.:stuck_out_tongue:

That’s where the name comes from - scrolled through the list of songs on my iPod when I signed up, and it was the first decent option to come up!
