Author of Johnny Mathis' ''What's New at the Zoo?"

OK, this is a fun little song that Mathis recorded in the mid 60s, and he did a duet with Flip Wilson on Wilson’s variety program.

I’m just curious if anyone can find the author. It has all the earmarks of Shel Silverstein, but I haven’t been able to find anything.

Comden and Green–they wrote it for the Broadway show DO RE MI in 1960. It was sung in a nightclub by the female chorus playing “The Animal Girls”. The show starred Phil Silvers and Nancy Walker and there’s a pretty good recording; the ENCORES! concert in 1996 featured Nathan Lane and Randy Graff and the recording is one of my faves.

This song is NOT one of my faves from the show, but that’s where it’s from.
