As were the first 12 MCU movies in which he did not appear (including two Avengers films). Sony owns the movie rights to the character, so there is no guarantee that Spider-man will appear. Of the 37 MCU released movies, he appeared in 6. To categorically say that no only will he appear, but he will be heavily featured needs to be backed up with some data from press-releases or what not.
There may be a cameo appearance, but that is not guaranteed either.

The counterpoint is that there’s always negotiation between Marvel Studios & Sony as to who will appear in which movie. One thing that’s telling is that every standalone Spider-Man movie has had at least one major MCU character, up to and including the Hulk in Brand New Day. It seems unlikely that Marvel Studios would have made a deal to let Sony use the Hulk if Sony wasn’t willing to play ball with their MCU plans for Spidey. Not to say he’ll definitely be in this one, hence my comment above that the post-credits scene might set up Spidey’s appearance in Secret Wars next year.
Spider-man is in the MCU movie that is coming out in a few weeks. The one with the Hulk, Punisher and probably Daredevil. And Tom Holland’s name appears in the original teaser. I don’t know why this is even a discussion. It may just be the post credits but the Spider-movie will be setting up the Avengers movie. And Spider-man will be in the Avengers again.
ETA the current spider-man contract with Sony states Marvel/Disney maintains creative control of the character, pays 25% of the cost for 25% profit of the standalone movies and gets to use him in other MCU projects. Sony retains 100% of control over the rights to any spiderverse characters and is able to make any crappy movie with them. So Spider-man is in but if they want to use Venom in the MCU they will have to negotiate that separately.
I don’t think that anyone is disputing that Spider-Man will be in the new Spider-Man movie, but whether he will be in the Avengers film.
So far, there is no confirmation that Spider-Man will be in the Avengers movie, and at least this article discusses why it’s unlikely that he has much of a role in that film (if he appears at all):

I guess it depends on what you mean by substantial. I know in the past they have filmed characters on one movie set and then put those scenes in the Avengers. I believe that happened to Gwynth Paltrow. My guess is Doomsday will be further set up in Brand New Day, Spider-man will have a small role in Doomsday and a bigger role in Secret Wars. There is certainly nothing contractual to stop that.

I don’t know that will be the case. They might refer to something that ends up in Doomsday, but in general, Spider-Man movies have not set up anything other than other Spider-Man movies. Yes, they linked to the MCU, but neither the Vulture nor Mysterio appeared in non Spider-Man movies. Yes Doctor Strange appeared in No Way Home, but the multiverse came more from Wanda Vision rather than the Spider-Man film. They certainly touch it, and they incorporate it into their narrative, but I don’t really think they set anything up. The only exception is the Tony-Peter Parker relationship, but that was set up in Civil War.
In any case, that he will be in Doomsday, and that he will play an important part is pure unsupported speculation. That he will be in Secret Wars, that is too far ahead to know, but could well be the case given that it is likely to be a bigger crossover event.
There may be cameo for Daredevil, but right now it looks like he is unlikely to appear much as a I would like him to.

I knew about Hulk and Punisher in the Spider-Man film, but Daredevil wasn’t even on my radar.
Or sonar, as they case may be.

I think when they were putting the show together, someone said (rightfully so) that the original idea was stupid and turned it into a sonar/echolocation thing.
If I was Wyatt Russell, I’d be annoyed. All of the other Thunderbolts actors made the list.
That is a glaring omission, yeah. He’s confirmed to be in the film, he even talked about his experiences filming it (though he’s had to be careful to not reveal secrets, and even talked about how tough that is).
My mistake. I was half remembering something. There were rumors about it. There was a clip in the trailer that was speculated to have another hero edited out and further speculated that it was Daredevil.
It’s established that Daredevil and Spider-man and Daredevil are in the same MCU universe. The new Spider-man is supposed to take place immediately after the last season of Daredevil. The movie has both Punisher and The Hand. Matt Murdoch is already Peter’s lawyer. It makes sense he would show up. But so far everyone involved is denying it. And also Matt is last seen in jail. Could still happen despite the denials.
That film did not do well. I am surprised that Marvel isnt just quietly dropping it. Like they did Eternals. Not to mention The Marvels.
The first 11 years of the MCU spanned three so-called Phases, with the third closing after the epic battle royale of Avengers: Endgame and epilogue Spider-Man: Far From Home. The franchise barreled forward in a pandemic world with Black Widow, Eternals, Shang-Chi, and Spider-Man: No Way Home in 2021 alone. In 2023, we kicked off Phase 5 with Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, which drew some of the weakest reviews of the franchise even as it expanded the Multiverse storyline meant to replace the overarching Infinity Saga of the first three Phases.

This is off topic because it’s about Spider-Man but I have wanted to see Spider-Man fight the Hulk since I was 9 years old watching them both in Saturday morning cartoons. Finally we have a movie that will deliver.
