Awaiting the next season of "24" - or not

What I’m wondering is if it’s a boy, will she name it Edgar?

In the grand scheme of things, this is definitely a “who cares?” sort of story, but as it fits this thread, I figured I’d share this article about how the local wildfires have disrupted filming of “24” as well as some other shows: Link.

Thank you, Scarlett O’Hara.

Pass the horseradish.

So if season 1 took place in 2001, then the next season will be set in . . . 2013? Maybe this time Jack will fly around on a jet pack; that could actually make the time to get from one place in LA to another plausible.

Yeah, I tried to calculate the time line once myself, basing it on the notion that the first season must take place in 2004, which was the next presidential election year, but after one of the seasons showed a kid’s drivers license (and hence his birthdate) and had the poor taste to state how old he was at the time, all of the speculation went out of the game. If memory serves, season 1 took place during the 2000 election cycle, but it’s been a while since I tried keeping it straight.

The Season 7 Trailer has been posted. It contains a major spoiler; if you want to remain unspoiled, definitely don’t watch.

Barely half a second of Chloe in that trailer.

Oh, well. At least she looked reasonably hot.

Well, after watching the trailer (I was already spoiled), they’d had better have a real good explanation for that, because on the surface it appears to be the kind of plot twist you’d see on a 3rd rate soap opera.

This version is better.

I have to say, after watching the trailer, I’m definitely a lot more excited for this season than I was. No CTU, completely new circumstances, looks like they realized that Season 6 was boring.

Lets hope it’s good!

I wonder if all the CTU employees will have even more makeup, corporate clothing, and plastic hairstyles this season. And I wonder if there will be cheeky banter amongst the computer techs over LandSat cascading and unpartitioned file sectors. Because that’s obviously what makes the show interesting.

My money says CTU won’t be working for 45 minutes, tops. It’s just something to say on the trailer.

One thing is for sure, a major American city will be in peril. I’d put all my money on Los Angeles.

And if we include everything within a five minute drive or helicopter ride, that means everything from San Francisco to the Mexican border.

Okay. I’m in.

:smack: I have no self control… ::sigh::

I watched the trailer posted by Oslo against my better judgment. sigh Now I have to watch at least long enough to find out how the plot twist John DiFool referenced came to be.

Of course, odds are that we won’t find out how until near the end of the season.

I just had my wife watch the trailer, and now we’re having difficulty remembering something (this is related to other spoilers in the thread):

How exactly did Tony Almeida die in the first place? I remember that he and Michelle were involved in an explosion together (beginning Season 5?), but I thought that Tony had survived for a while. I don’t remember how he died ultimately.

Someone refresh my memory?

Didn’t Tony

Torture the bad guy who killed his Wife, and the bad guy got the better of him? Injected him with something as I recall.

Well, it’s been nearly six months since we last discussed this, thanks to the intervention of the writers’ strike. Fox’s website has shown for the last month or so that the show will return in January of 2009 – a full nine months from now.

So a few questions for you guys:

  1. Is there anyone here who cared about the show’s return before the strike that no longer cares because of the extended delay?

  2. Do you think the show’s ratings will suffer dramatically because of the lengthy hiatus?

  3. Do you think the planned premise for this season will have changed with all the time to rewrite and so little filming having been completed before the strike?

  4. Can Kiefer stay out of jail long enough to give us a full season?

Nine more months. Good Lord. I dunno…I suppose once they start advertising it again, my interest my increase, but right now, I just can’t imagine re-dedicating myself to this show.

Well then good news! They are going to have a two-hour prequel in the fall to fill in what happens between the last season and the one starting in January. Link

I am (like most people here I think) somewhat looking forward to the new season, but less than I have been in the past. I am actually more interested in this prequel, since it seems the source of a lot of problems in recent seasons has been the need to fit the plot into the 24 hour day structure.
