Awesome Trump Answer at Presser

But, interestingly enough, a recent poll found that the nuclear holocaust was only the second most popular holocaust among White House staffers.

We’re in for the long haul. The best those opposing Trump can hope for is the gradual repudiation of the Republican Party. The low numbers of Trump’s approval come from non-Republicans; the party faithful have extraordinarily high opinions still. But the edges of that coalition are fraying. The chaos of a businessman president who promised to use his skills to run the government better than the politicians hurts him with those who wanted the things Trump promised and shoved aside his words and actions.

Over the next two years, whatever remains of the moderates in the Party are going to be under enormous pressure to pull away. Those on the right, but not far right, are going to be influenced when confronted by constituents, as has already started. Democrats need to undergo surgery for spine implants. The crazier Trump acts, the harder it will be for his defenders to merely blame the media or the left or the Democrats in Congress. Whenever he gives a press conference that CNN immediately calls “unhinged” and “untethered” he does so unfiltered. His true nature overrides his handlers. His thin skin is his Achilles heel.

There’s no way to take him down from the outside. He has to do it himself. It’s not a high percentage scheme but the others are no percentage. And a generalized hate campaign has the advantage that it spurs action and creates partnerships while also being emotionally satisfying. It proved itself on the right against Obama and Clinton and got people to the polls. It’s a primal human emotion. It’s the only way I can think of to get through the next few years and come out with a victory. If you have a better idea I’ll be happy to hear it.

Hey don’t blame me I didn’t vote for the fool !

“Awesome” and “amazing” are the right words, that part’s for sure.

I stole that and used it elsewhere. I’m not sorry. I’ll steal it again, probably tomorrow. Because it’s awesome. And true.

Agreed. The obvious thing about Trump is that he is not fully in control of himself. He does and says things that are counterproductive, because he can’t help himself. He can’t shut up about the popular vote, for just one example. A sociopath who was trying to consolidate power, like Ted Cruz for example, would immediately change the subject when asked about the popular vote. He’d talk about anything and everything except that, because talking about the popular vote just reminds people that he lost the popular vote. Ted Cruz wouldn’t like losing the popular vote, but he’d realize that now that he was president it didn’t matter any more.

But Trump can’t help himself. Losing the popular vote hurt his feelings and injured his ego, and he can’t stop casting about for ways to make it not true. A sane egomaniac would get over it. But Trump can’t get over it.

There are going to be a lot of things that Trump won’t be able to get over over the course of his administration. I almost said “next four years”. For any normal egomaniacal sociopath it would be easy to coast through the next four years signing tax cuts for the rich and repealing health care for the white working class, all while lining his pockets and making everyone in Washington kiss his ass.

But not for Trump. The things his ego won’t allow him to believe will grow and grow, until the difference between his self-perception and reality will be so enormous that even Congressional Republicans will realize he’s a liability. Let’s just hope he doesn’t get millions of people killed before then.

I’m with you to just before this point. This is the point at which your analysis lacks convincing specificity. What precisely will Trump say or do that will mean R congressmen think they have more to gain by impeachment prior to 2020 - with inevitable loss of “forever Trump” voters - than they will lose by letting Trump continue?

Declaring martial law to stop immigration.

You know how Key & Peele had Luther, Obama’s “anger translator”? Trump needs a gibberish translator, so when he spews out random word salad what we get is something that is actually coherent.

It’s hardly stealing because - and I am guessing low - five hundred people have independently invented that same joke in some way or another. I personally saw at lest eight or nine different iterations of the joke appear within minutes.

It’s just such a slam-bang obvious comparison that it was inevitable people would come up with that gag. Any adult watching Trump talk gets the same impression.

Your proposal is accepted.

It’s called “The US Media, from the NY Times Down.”

I only get my news from The Daily Show and the dope; the newscaster clip on TDS said the press conference “can only be described as… ‘extraordinary’.” Jeez, don’t give Trump a positive word like that to glom on to. :smack:

The electoral college comments were just embarrassing. “I was given that information.” If that were true (it can’t be), then you have surrounded yourself with other complete idiots.

For the record, I’m a Gentile (Irish and German background, grew up Catholic, now Methodist). But, I know just enough about seders and Passover to be dangerous.

I think what you meant to say was “I know more about seders than anyone you’ve ever met in your whole life”.

Nah! He just studied the eloquent rhetoric of this great American:

When I read most of this thread (I didn’t click on the link in the OP), I thought sure it was about Jake Turx’s question (see here). This is a classic.

LOL! “I hear people saying that my seders are amazing, just great.”

How will that change what Trump says? He just makes shit up anyway.
