gobear, the peaceful Muslims aren’t rioting and burning Taliban flags in the streets, they’re hiding at home. I passed a flag-burning once during the Gulf War days and, despite a deep-seated belief that George Bush (Sr.) is the spawn of Satan, I jokingly told my mother I was going to start shouting pro-America slogans. She told me I would get our car torched.
I noticed the expressions of the bystanders in the picture too, and immediately recognised the standard gawking looks which are present at all such riots. (I noticed them when CNN showed Afghanis storming a deserted U.S. embassy building as well.) I think the idiots were still enjoying their day out and didn’t notice that one of their number was in the throes of death. That empty, gaping grin is the trademark of a brainwashed mob.
Personally I don’t think I’d laugh at anyone on fire but I like that song, Fenris. Good one.
But when asked, they had to admit that they’re hooked on Jackass.

Laughing at this guy seems wrong, I do however, appreciate the irony in the situation.
Things in Pakistan are getting ugly, the radicals there are using the situation in Afghanistan to further their own agendas.
Their actions will have a grim consequence for the refugees in that area as no trucks will enter the area while this protests are going on.
Ironic and sad, that’s what this is.

why there is no Arab movement for peace with Israel?
why the Pakistani rioters don’t say that OBL’s acts do not represent Islam?
why the various mullahs and imams don’t excommunicate OBL and the Taliban?
Why, when Muslim activists demand an Islamic state, it results in thieves’hands being amputated and unveiled women being stoned to death?
why the citizens of Arab nations are unable to differentiate between a war on the Taliban and a war on Islam?
I’ve read Karen Armstrong’s history of Islam, I’ve read books on Sufi philosophy (which sounds surprisingly like Zen Buddhism), I know the many contributions of Islamic culture to the world.
Yet what I read in the paper and see on TV leads me to believe that Muslims, by and large, are a pack of bloodthirsty barbarians.
