I know that there are Dopers in Surrey, Vancouver and Richmond. Who are you, and are there any more? I’m in Birch Bay, so we’re practically neighbours!
I’m in Richmond.
But when I tell that to anyone outside of the Greater Vancouver area, they always go “Huh? Is that in Ontario?”
Hey, 7 up yours! I’m in Richmond, too.
Those people are probably confusing Richmond with Richmond Hill.
Just thank goodness they aren’t confusing it with Richmond, VA / Richmond, CA / Richmond, KY…

I’m in Vancouver. If I was still living with my parents in White Rock, we’d really be neighbours.
Anyway, welcome to the area Johnny L.A.! I haven’t actually been to Birch Bay since I was a kid, but I do remember it has a fun go-kart track and waterslides.
I dind’t know the dope was around 2,000 or so years ago
I’m in White Rock (jumps up and down on roof, waves madly)
The Workshop pub still there?
Hey, Annie. We were just in White Rock this morning for breakfast.
My roommate (the guy I bought the house from) hasn’t heard of The Workshop, but be said it might have been part of the Dakota Creek venue (which is gone). He said I should ask about The Slide On Inn.

Nobody mentioned Burnaby! If anybody’s throwing a welcome party, I’ll be there.
I’m across the water in Victoria.
Live in White Rock, work in Vancouver.
Hello. The Dr. is now in Lee Creek, which is near Chase, which is
near Kamloops.
If there’s a bright spot in the center of the Universe, Lee Creek is the farthest point from it.
I Kid. Actually for a former Santa Monican (CA), it’s actully very nice.
Rather quiet, but nice. Never seen SO many Bloody Salmon!
Where did you go? I’m new in town and looking for grub recommendations. One cannot live on fish and chips alone.
Actually, it’s quite a bit more subliminal a pun than that – Johnny Hart lurks here, and is an assiduous reader of the religious threads in Great Debates. Some of his best gags have resulted from his reversing a comment made by someone opposed to Christianity over there!
Don’t take this seriously!
rjk: Okay, I’ll mention Burnaby. My friend was looking at possibly moving there once.
DrMemory: SMO, eh? I’m realy going to miss Ye Olde King’s Head. A friend called from Tennessee last night. She said that a friend of hers in Aberdeen, WA sent her some salmon that he had smoked himself. Oooh, I’m jealous!
Annie: I don’t remember the name of the place. After croosing the border, we drove up the shoreline road. We turned inland after getting through the seaside stretch and went to Prince George’s Highway (or something like that) and turned right. After a couple of miles we saw a place on the left. It was near a hotel and was similar to a Carrow’s restaurant in the U.S. We had the Farmer’s Favourite breakfast (two eggs, two rashers of bacon, two sausages, two pancakes and some coutry-fried potatoes). Really typical fare for that kind of place.
If you want to cross the border, I can recommend Arlis’s Restaurant in Bellingham. I’ve been there many times, and they have excellent breakfasts. (Almost as good as Crazy Otto’s in Lancaster, CA.)
I’m really hoping I can find some fish’n’chips that that are almost as good as the ones at Ye Olde King’s Head. They’re the best in the world.
So keeping track here, we have in the Vancouver area:

DrMemory is about 3 or 4 hours northeast of here, and Petrichor is a couple of hours across the water.
Sounds like the makings of an eventual PACNOWESDOPEFEST, if you ask me!
Feh. They’re all cheap copies of Richmond, Surrey (UK) where i used to live anyway - so don’t you go getting too rolly-eyed!
Weep…King’s Head…Sob…
Crying in my (stronger) beer…
King George Highway. Please tell me you didn’t go eat at the hideous pink hotel - that thing’s an eyesore.
I can’t tell you how it compares to Ye Olde King’s Head since I don’t even know where that is, but the best fish and chips in White Rock are from Montgomery’s Cottage Lunch on Marine Drive (the shoreline road). They normally close down for the winter though, so you probably won’t be able to check them out until May or so. Moby Dick’s pretty good too, and they do stay open all year.
