Hey, if we elected a guy who tricked his mother into signing over her home to him and put her into a nursing home, out-lawyering her when she sued to get the house back, and then cutting the funding to the damned nursing home, I don’t think a little DUI is going to lower public opinion of him very much.
The Globe & Mail has clearer pics of the mugshots today. I love the way the ones on the left suggest he thinks he’s being photographed because he’s such a swell, popular guy. Then he’s handed the placard and it sinks in that this goes beyond folks wanting a document of meeting him, and that fingerprinting isn’t as validating as autographing.
I took home a Globe and Mail last night from work just to keep that mugshot.
First Ralph Klein, now Gordon Campbell. If we enact prohibition for Western premiers only, do you think politics out west would become sane again?
Super Natural British Columbia! Ruled by clowns for 15 years!
Man, I was just cleaning up stuff at work on Friday when this flashed on the news wires-- and ended up doing 4 hours of overtime in the news room.
As for his apology on Sunday. Well, I don’t care who you are, but if you’re going to drink somewhere, you decide beforehand if you’re gonna drive. 3 martinis and an unknown amount of wine (at least 2 glasses) in a 6 hour period is too much. The limit is one glass of anything-- and you better stay there at least 3 hours before getting behind the wheel.
At least Klein knew he needed a driver.
But thats what he did!! One glass of white wine, one glass of red, one glass of beer, one glass of scotch, one glass of rye, one glass of Vodka and OJ, etc…
More like 132 years!

Ah well, that’s what I get for taking Canadian History in Quebec.
Hell, I didn’t know that racism was a big issue with Amor de Cosmos – I just knew he made administrative decisions based on what the angels told him, which was good enough for me.
I absolutely love that fact that the only person sticking up for him is Ralph Klein. You gotta figure even he’s surprised it wasn’t him that got caught.
Section 6(1) of the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms guarantees the right of all Canadian citizens to re-enter the country. Criminal records only keep out riff-raff from the States.
Update: Maui police consider more charges for Campbell
According to the arrest report which was released today, he was more than thirty km/h over the speed limit, and drifted over into both the oncoming-traffic lane and the bicycle lane.
Well, things are looking bette… err, I mean worse and worse.
Hey, look! Vultures!
The alcohol blood levels that I’ve been hearing run from .149 to .161; fairly tanked in my book!
Here’s an angle that I’d like to see explored:
since Day One (or Day Three, actually) Campbell has been repeating the “it was a vacation, my own time, nothing to do with work…” line.
Now, I suspect that a small battalion of government spin weasels were putting in 18-hour days over that first weekend and into the first week; unless Campbell was paying them out of his pocket (which I doubt), then the affair has crossed over into the realm of public governance in BC, yes?
