My head is about to explode...please help me find this song

Okay…maybe this was my fault for putting the mystery unlabeled tape in the stereo. But I caught just a couple of notes and some words of this song and that was it…I think someone recorded over it. :smack:

But now…I’ve had that little taste and I WANT MORE! MORE!!

god, I’m on crack.

I tried to find the song…I googled, I CDNOWed every band name I could think of, I searched Billboards hits archives, I searched the archives here. I’m trying to find a song that was released either in 1997 or 1998. About the same time Brick by Ben Folds Five was popular. That Christmas season. It was a song by a guy or group of guys. Definately male vocals. Lyrics consist of “I wish I could disconnect the phone when I’m sleeping” and something else “when I’m screaming.” That’s about all I remember of it. I heard it a lot on DC101 when it was popular.

If anyone knows the name of the song or the band (or both)…you’ll have my undying appreciation and my 18th born child (sorry…the first 17 have been promised to various people).

I Googled with the line “I wish I could disconnect…etc.” and got the name of the song: “Wish.”
Now if I could just find the artist.
Since I gave you half, do I get half of the 18th child? (if I’m correct, that is?)

It was 1996.

1996, perhaps?

Written by someone named Sheppard?

How about Wish?

Sorry, I’ve no idea who Sheppard is. Maybe he was the composer-in-residence for Def Leppard.

I thought for sure it was Flagpole Sitta by Harvey Danger but I just listened to it and didn’t hear those lyrics. Do you have any other info about the song? Is it slow, fast? What style of music?

vivalostwages and kaylasdad99, you are my new heroes for today! That is the song and those are the lyrics. Thank you thank you thank you.

You guys can split child # 18, or I can give one of you #18 and one #19.

(I’m still looking for a copy of the song, but at least I’ve got a bigger piece of the puzzle.)

It’s Coward.

Okay, that’s one third of the child to each of us now.
See how mighty we Dopers are when we combine forces?

What? You don’t want #18, #19, and #20? You just want to split #18 three ways?

Well…okay…just less labor for me.
