Baby woke up in one outfit; we gave her a bath and changed it (into #2). She then had a blow-out pooper (that managed to get on her front and back–very impressive). While changing her (into #3), she spit up and it ran down her neck on to the back of the outfit–so we got a new one (#4). Then, while holding her and listening to the new Brazilian Girls album and surfing the Dope, she projectile spit-up all over herself and me and the floor (guess she’s not a fan, but not sure of which yet). So, we’re on outfit #5 and she’s happily asleep.
This is our record so far (but she’s only 6 weeks old, so plenty of time to top it).
What’s your record number of baby outfits in one day?
I was planning on just hanging out with her diaper-only for a bit but she perked up and looked better after the little spit-up during her changing, so I thought she may be OK. Next time we’re both going to sit in the bathtub for a while or something :).
I think that is exactly why our washing machine just gave out. We barely used it until we had our son. It is amazing how much laundry you do with a baby even considering how tiny their clothes are.
I am sure our record is around 4 or 5. Mostly for spitting up…he never had a blow out diaper, thankfully.
My daughter was exceptionally good at spitting up, but I didn’t keep her in ‘outfits’ per se … usually just a T-shirt and cloth diaper. I don’t really remember what her record was (she’s 23 now), but I do remember packing an extra set of clothes for myself in her diaper bag if we went anywhere - she always managed to throw up all over me too.
Well, I don’t remember a specific number but I do recall with #2 having to pull over on the way back from the beach because we had to buy tourist clothes because the baby had spit up and/or leaked poop all over every outfit he had and all of my shirts.
With the oldest (now 7) I don’t keep track anymore since he can dress himself. But I have seen him go through a whole sock drawer in one day (taking them off while playing a game, running through mud puddles, taking off while watching TV).
Ah, yes – the diaper blow-out! After one particularly memorable one (and I do mean memorable – the kid is now 13), he had poop clear up to his shoulder blades.
I’m sitting here with my seven month old. Only one outfit so far. Blow-outs, good times. We don’t go through many outfits on a typical day. Little guy never (knock wood) spits up anymore and the dreaded blow-outs are down to about one a week. Best of luck with your little one.
Diaper blow-outs? Pfff. Just wait until she’s a toddler and learns how to take the diaper off and fingerpaint the crib, the walls, and herself with the contents. I tried duct taping the diaper shut, but she’d just reach down the back of it. I finally ended up buying some zippered blanket sleepers and sewing the child into them at night.
She was a spitter-upper, too (my son, who was 8 when she was born, was very excited about having a baby sister until he discovered babies barf a lot, after which he didn’t come near her again for about 9 months) so we probably went through 4 or 5 changes of clothes a day. I usually just had her in a baby gown or a onesie, though, so it was no big deal.
She’s ten now, and slovenly. I have to force her to shower and change her clothes on weekends, otherwise she’ll sleep in them and still be wearing on Sunday whatever she came home from school in Friday night. I hope she outgrows this soon.
Not sure of the record number, but I am sure that you figure out real quick to stick mostly to one-sies (and have dozens on hand) and to always keep a recieving blanket or cloth diaper handy to wipe up the puke/drool. And after a while, you get a bit less diligent about changing the entire outfit after every little spill or dribble. Eh, a good wipe, good to go.
My kids hardly ever regurgitated, thankfully, but we had a few awesome “blowouts”, as in, OK, time for another bath, so I can relate!
Congrats on the newbie. Life is messy. Ain’t it great?
If you think you’ve seen blowouts, wait until she gets an ear infection and goes on antibiotics. In the last ten days, we have had 22 blowouts. Some of them got poop in his hair.
