Back By Popular Demand! The Fall 2015 Postcard Exhange

I received my first postcard today from **Anaglyph **. It’s a fishing boat print that is reminiscent of many fishing trips that I have made. Thanks!

Mine are ready to go but I’ll be taking them to the po tomorrow. If i drop them in the box in front of my house i suspect they’ll be ruined (it’s a little rainy out there tonight)

Two postcards today!

From needscoffee a lenticular (new word for me!) postcard that is fascinating. I am rotating it during commercials of the Notre Dame - Clemson game, and I’m finding it more interesting than the game.

The second, from Teuton, is a picture of one of my favorite places, Buckingham Palace. I’ve never been in it, but I’m sure it’s only because HM has lost my phone number.

Thanks!

Got a lovely card from Pai325 yesterday depicting Laurent House in Rockford. I’d never seen it before; love the house. Have you ever toured it?

And in reponse to your query: Morton is… PUMPKIN-Y this time of year  How’s Rockford? Thanks for your thoughtfulness!

ravensthief, your zip code in the list has only 4 numbers. Can you supply the missing number and tell me where in the sequence to insert it?

5…on the end

I haven’t been there yet, but I intend to go.

Things are cold and gray. It feels like November!!!

I got four postcards on friday, three more on Saturday! From GRRLBRARiAN a pop-art portrait of Abraham Lincoln with some probably invented trivia about his life.Actually, so far fall is beautiful here - after an unusually hot summer, a refreshing fall with gray mornings, but still plenty of sunshine. Although, when my brother took me to the top of mount Rigi for lunch to celebrate my birthday, we aw none of the usually fabulous view, but were stuck in thick fog.

From Atomic Mama, I got a picture of a Maine shore lobster dinner, reminding me of the conference dinners at New England Gordon conferences. From** Lsura**, I got a card showing Chicago at night. If you like cities at night, I hope you like my card. From PW6163 i got what else but Kangaroos!

From SILENUS I got a glitter-enhanced night image of the Hoover Dam - I saw that one in person in 1981, when I drove around the US in a rented car, together with two friends, before starting on my PhD. From Elendil’s Heir, I got a card from the Gettysburg National Military Park. I don’t think I have seen that one, but I frequently visited the Valley Forge Natl. History Park during the time I worked in King of Prussia. And. last but not least, from Teuton arrived a second card, showing the Harbor of Minehead. Thank you all for the nice cards and good wishes!

I’m home sick from work and what do I get in the mail? Three postcards.

Two lovely outdoor scenes from Teuton and a picture of the interior of the Laurent House from Pai325.

Thanks!

I put all my postcards in the mail this morning – just under the wire! International ones will arrive with Christmas stamps – not my choice; that’s all on the Post Office. (Although if it takes those postcards 2 months to arrive, it will look like genius.)

Another postcard from Teuton!

It’s a picture of Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch. That may be spelled incorrectly, but I don’t have the will to check and correct.

I’d love to go to Cornwall. It looks beautiful. My daughter has one free day in London in a couple of months and has also wanted to visit Cornwall, but it’s a bit far for a day trip. Off to Leicester to see the King, or to Newton Heath to visit the grave of her g-g-g grandfather instead, perhaps.

Thanks!

Two came today!

Anaglyph sent me a photo of her ivory tower to mine. As a scientist myself, it was great to see her science campus!

Algher sent me a pic of his houseboat, a 10,000 person aircraft carrier in Coronado. Having lived in San Deigo myself, that was a treat.

Thanks!

All postcards ought to go in the mail by today!

Please forgive me, mine will go in tomorrow. It’s been a weird couple of weeks, and it’s my fault that I’ve been a slacker.

I got postcards! One is from Einstein’s Heir, pictures of a town near his, Attendorn. Really lovely, I’ve never visited Europe.

Got another from Anaglyph, with a recipe on the front for an Alsacian variey of pizza. I’m going to have to try it, but first, what are “lardons” and “colza oil”?

And from Australia, from Weedy, comes a postcard with kangaroos. I’ve never seen a kangaroo in real life, I hope to someday.

Again, I’m sorry I am late

Oh, I also got a card returned to me today, from the previous exchange. I sent two to everybody, so Amarinth, did you get just one from me?

That’s Einstein’s Hund, not Heir. My brain is well and truly fried.

LOL, I thought you might have been translating it from the German…

Then it would have been dog!

Sifting through my mail I missed an envelope tucked into a store flyer. Got cards from blondebear.

There’s a single card from Marsh’s Free Museum, with Jake the Alligator man, and a shrunken. MMMMM! Sounds like fun! Then there’s a pack of vintage postcards from Ft. Lauderdale. I haven’t been to a beach in thirty years, but these make me want to go. My dad would have loved the old cars, he was into that.

Got mine off today! Go me!

Mine went out today!

Lardons is bacon cut into small pieces, “Colza oil” is rapeseed oil (Canola).
