Back to school in the MMP

Poor Gordie - how he suffers!!!

I vacuumed yesterday, and Taz was annoyed. He’s not afraid of the noisy device, he just objects to it being in the same room as he. I’m pretty sure he snorts as he walks past.

Pizza has been ordered for late lunch, early supper. I’m messaging with daughter - they’re hoping to leave Ocala tomorrow evening because SIL has to be at work on Tues. I expect she wants to be away from her grandparents also. Poor kid… I don’t think she realized that about her grandparents. And, yes, I think my mom is the same way…

We are now under a hurricane warnin’. Irma is expected to be a cat one when it crosses into south Jawja around midnight tonight. ‘Tis rainy and breezy out but no high winds as of yet. We’ll get the worst of what we’re gonna get tonight and tomorrow. Still, nowhere near as bad as what the folks in Flarduh are experiencin’.

MOOOOOOM sorry your daughter is havin’ to deal with this. Hopefully they can leave tomorrow and not have to deal with that racist idiot anymore.

I’m sorry Moooom. It sucks to be related to racists. :frowning:

Poor Gordie.

Glad Pepper Pup is feeling better.

I forgot about game day traffic, something that I didn’t have to deal with when we heathenated at 10 instead of 11. I spent 6 miles either standing still or in first gear. By the time I got past it, I was breathing fire at the !@#$ing morons who either weren’t aware of the upcoming split of highways or were just assholes and blocked a lane trying to merge right. Once I got past that, traffic was good. I was only 15 minutes late and not the only one. Aptly enough, our theme was chaos.

Looks like we’ll get downgraded to a tropical storm warning by around eightish tonight. Better than a hurricane but still not a good thing. A steady but light rain has been fallin’ since around nine-thirty this mornin’. We’ll get a lot more tomorrow. Again, still better than Flarduh. Hopefully we’ll keep power and just have an icky day.

Did she marry a Jewish guy? Mrs. Plant’s (v.3.0) Uncle sent a wedding card with derogatory scripture. I didn’t point out that Paul was a Jewish guy. I don’t understand folk’s problem with Jews. Hell, the Bible is full of them.
I bought the blennies (video still hasn’t gone viral, dammit) from a company in the FL keys placed in Tavernier. It is run by a husband and wife who go diving and net capture fish. From what I understand from their web site, they had planned to stay in order to care for their fish. I hope they come out ok.

**FCD **has been flipping around the channels going from games to movies to news. EVERY SINGLE reporter talking about the hurricane apparently has to stand outside, leaning into the wind and rain, screaming into a mic. Because if they’re not dripping wet, they can’t be taken seriously… But I am glad to see they’re expected to downgrade the storm to Cat 1 by Tampa, since Ocala is a bit north of there. Daughter and SIL plan to leave tomorrow afternoon as soon as weather permits. I’m pretty sure they’ll be glad to be gone from the grandparents’ house. I’m so sorry for them.

Pizza was yum! Ice cream was also ingested. The weekend is winding down and it’s back to work tomorrow. Good times…

**flytrap **- she married a black man. My BIL is a racist asshole who thinks he’s such a good Christian.

Six Flags is still open weekends! At least this weekend.

And there are some good haunts around there

Dinner was homemade chili and very good; mostly stuff from the garden. The SDMB is acting wonky for me tonight so I may wait until tomorrow for some replies/threads/new MMP.

Thank goodness it wasn’t a Lithuanian!

You’re a sick, sick man…

We shall retire to the boudoir to watch teevee and listen for Irma updates. The weather radio will allegedly alert if anything awful is headed our way.

Nitey Nite Y’all!

But I meet the most nice people.

Home, long, exhausting, & sucky weekend. :frowning:

& I like how all the local stations needs to send people there to do their own coverage. The local-to the event reporter or the national reporter leaning into the wind & raid isn’t good enough, we need our local station’s reporter leaning into the wind & rain. :dubious:

What kind of radio tells you if Flytrap is coming to visit? I want one!!!

FCM congrats on the grandkid … I remember when my pc went plotz …perfect child was waiting for graduation and you were moving to Florida for FCD’s new job a move I gather wasn’t successful …

Well, at least we can agree on THAT!

I could debate assertion that having met both Doggio and Spidey in person among others. I would contend I have met the most nice people.

PACKERS WIN!!!

PANTHERS WIN!!!

AWWWW

I want one, too.

You have no need to worry, I do not associate with the lower classes, nor with the unintelligent.

This is a “sporting event” of some sort, is it not?
:dubious:

They are closing schools and colleges here in North Ali-Bama for Monday afternoon and Tuesday…and we are about 350 miles from the Gulf Coast . So they must be expecting some bad weather as a result of Irma. Been here since 1997 and we’ve closed schools for snow and cold and the occasional tornado weather before, but never for a hurricane. Guess Irma does have a long reach…

Napped a fair amount of the afternoon and watched tackleball on the Tee-Vee, along with the premier of “The Orville” (new SF show–verdict is still out IMHO). Managed to get a head of lettuce out Saturday and forgot to put it back in the fridge–so maybe a little shopping tomorrow.

FCM, well, BIL could have Muslim-think how that would have gone down…

swampy, take care, sounds like you’ll still catch a lot of storm.

Football

Short version of the moving - **FCD **was there to close down the plant that the company owned. While doing that, we decided that we hated being in FL, and after 2 years, he got a job in Baltimore and moved while I stayed behind till our daughter graduated HS and got settled in college. Then I followed him to MD (that was 13 years ago)

Daughter married, she and husband moved in with us, she divorced husband, then started dating the guy she’s now married to. They moved to FL 4 or 5 years ago. And they’re kinda, sorta thinking about moving back… maybe… I hope!

OK, you’re all caught up.
