Same here. My hopes and prayers to all south of the Trout River and those just north as well.
Had a nice smaller (30+) class and almost half ladies this time around. Nice to see and quite a change from the old days when maybe 1-2% of the students were female.
Having only seen a couple pictures of you sitting I can’t speak to the tall part but ------- knowing this crowd be glad you didn’t end up Bug-Eyed Sprite!
Hubs is fine and n fortress. I and friend nd two cats and Louie are fine in the Land of Lincoln. This is the furthest north I have ever been. Wx was lovely 63 F when we arrived last night around 4am. There is a one hour time difference. Saw big trees and heard a train and saw a red breasted cardinal and a squirill. It’s the small things.
Exhausted. More detail in Irma thread. Thanks guys for caring. Love all of you.
KPaquatics, where I bought the Atlantic sailfin blennies, (their feeding video on Facebook has yet to go viral) is run by a couple in the Florida Keys. They dive and net capture fish. They are apparently staying in the keys to care for their fish. I do hope that they come out safely. I believe Irma is already in the keys.
Oysterfest was great. Good food, good beer, and good friends make for a good night(although you could tell which bartenders worked at a Irish pub before and which hadn’t when you ordered a Guinness).
I just checked the forecast for Ocala - it looks like tomorrow will be their worst day, and the max winds now are expected to be 80 rather than over 100. That’s a relief. I’ll still worry, but not nearly as much.
I slept all the way thru the night and I don’t recall any dreams - huzzah! Still got up at 5:30 but that’s OK - it’s later than I normally wake, so it’s a win! No real plans for the day - I may boil some eggs, and we might have enough dishes that I can run the dishwasher. Mostly, tho, nothing that *has *to be done. So a chill day.
I sent a message to USGS about my Senior National Parks pass. It’s still “processing” since July 21!!! I swear, I think this administration is deliberately slowing everything that’s an advantage to anyone but the wealthy. I still haven’t heard from OPM about the $3K that’s owed me - last correspondence was in Feb! No, I do not like the Cheeto-in-Chief.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 70 Amurrkin out and cloudy with a predicted high 71 cloudy and windy with rain comin’ in at some point this evenin’. WetOne we will have some of the effects of Irma but as a tropical storm with winds up to forty mph and lots of rain tonight and tomorrow. Hatches are battened down. Pretty much everything is closed tomorrow. Moanday is my trash pick up day but it’s been delayed a day which I think is a smart move. So we wait to see what happens. A few days ago TWPTB were talkin’ hurricane force winds so that has changed a lot.
We shall deheathenate this mornin’ and I am makin’ N.O.L. I have a poke roast in the slow cooker and cabbage, which I chopped last night has been boiled and is coolin’ down. The cabbage shall become a cabbage casserole. The poke and cabbage shall be accompanied by peas, butterbeans 'n okra cooked together, smashed sweet N.O.T., and cornbread. I am inspired to cook today.
Now I need more caffeine and rumbly tummy demands sustenance. Then I need to mix up the casserole and purtify for deheathenization.
Everybody in the path of Irma be safe! Butters glad you’re safe and that Perry and company appear to be safe.
Butters, if they let you off base, rent a car and visit the Arch and the St. Louis Zoo, both are worth a visit and the Zoo is free (IIRC). And if you’re thirsty, the Budweiser brewery has a tour…
Had my occasional Krispy Kreme blowout breakfast this morning, so more than my eyes are glazed today. Coached and refereed for 7 hours yesterday, so today will be R&R.
We did breakfast at Cracker Barrel, then ran to WalMart for cat litter. They were out of the kind we buy, but it’s not urgent - I just like have having a spare box. I’ll stop in on my way home from work one day. No biggie.
**FCD **is futzing in his shop. I’m watering some of last weekend’s plantings, since we may not see rain till Tues or Weds. I need to pull something out to thaw for supper, but mostly, I’m not doing much today. Because I don’t have to. I see crocheting and Netflixing on my schedule.
We decided to deheathenate with the Luteruns and I’m glad we did. The rain has set in a lot earlier that TWPTB said it would. Anywho we’re home and home we shall stay. On the plus side, windows are open on the backside of da cave to let in some fresh air. It won’t rain in those windows and it’s nice to turn the a/c off and let nature cool us for a while. I shall finish up makin’ N.O.L. in a little while and we shall feast followed by sloth.
Up and puttering. Pepper pup seems to be back to her old self today. Several more days of anti-biotics to go, however. She is busy trying to learn how to open door knobs. This is her own idea. We played fetch the dragon this morning, but I’ll have to switch her to something more dog park friendly. I don’t think her dragon will stand up to her buddies playing keep away.
My daughter discovered today that she’s related to racists. She overheard her uncle on the phone with her grandmother declaring that her pregnancy was worse than sinkholes or Hurricane Irma. I never particularly liked that BIL, but he’s shown himself to be a mega-ass. Of course, in his mind, he’s a good Christian because he went to Bible college and he goes to church and all that crap. Nope, he’s an ass. And grandma didn’t call him on it, and I think that hurt my daughter even worse. She’s messaging with her dad right now. I’m so angry, I could pop my BIL with a bazooka…
I went to an absolutely wonderful wedding yesterday. My band conductor and his girlfriend got married. I enjoyed the ceremony and reception so much! Some of us stayed overnight and had breakfast at the hotel the next morning, which I also enjoyed.
This afternoon my roommate and I defilthified the apartment because we’ll have a guest overt tonight.
