Backing up an iPhone. How?

I need to back up my iPhone’s Mp3s.

Some I got from Itunes
Some I got from burning CDs
Some I, I mean “a friend”, got from various online “sources”.

Anyway, how can I back these up to my hard drive or even Itunes to put all the same songs (and preferably playlists) on a different iPod?

I should note that most of my songs don’t appear in iTunes library in my computer and exist on my iPhone or CD collection. I want to avoid reburning all my CDs.

There is no official way to do this and apple reps won’t support it.

Google is your friend. There are third party ways to do it.

I use a program called iPod rip. It was a sanitysaver after the hard drive that held most of our music crashed and burned and the ipod was the sole surviving repository of the hours and hours of importing.

Google points out other ways which are free, but this was easiest & simplest for me.
