How can I get my music off my iPhone?

The title says it all, but for a bit of backstory… We had a computer we used for iTunes that unexpectedly bit the dust. :smack: We were able to recover all the music and video purchased on iTunes, but there is quite a bit of ripped music that’s only on the iPhone at this point. I’ve seen some software that (supposedly) allows your iPhone to go into disk mode, or something like it, but they all seem… sketchy.

Anybody have any experience with these software apps? OR an entirely different solutions?

We can’t upgrade the phone or the OS without losing all this data.

HELP!

Thanks!

I’ve had good results with iRip.

I withdraw my recommendation: just downloaded it and it doesn’t even start up on W7.

I’ve used iRepo successfully twice. You have to buy it, but it’s a great tool to have if you have an iPod that you may need to back up.

iPhone Explorer:

It has a Mac and PC version. It is free. I just tested it and it happily copied an M4A file that I had purchased from the iTunes store and synced to it to my desktop with a simple drag and drop. This was on my non-jailbroken iPad.

:smack: That’s the one I used a few weeks ago. I used iRip (aka iPodRip) a couple of years ago to rip an iPod, not an iPhone. Yeah, this is good - but make sure you don’t touch any of the system files.

Thanks! I will definitely look into these.

Just installed iPhone explorer and was finally able to rip a recording I’d made of a friend of mine from the radio using fStream - which is a wonderful app with a few glaring omissions that it’s churlish to complain about, given that it’s totally free.
