I think the cops showed a lot of restraint, but then I am old. If I had behaved that way at 15, my father… well, I’d been a lot more afraid of him than I would be of the cops.
I don’t know why people keep referring to her as a child, in less than a year she could be driving. Scary thought with that level of maturity.
For me it is Friday. And to steal and paraphrase a line from one of my favorite Amish ballads
“If the Parson doesn’t catch me, I’ll be in Kokomo”

( I am soooo looking forward to this!)
Well, I also have my Direct TV back, they took it off the mounting on the roof and put it on a pole with a hole dug in the yard (concrete included). Took until 4:40Pm, close to the kids soccer practice at 5PM, and then I couldn’t find my car keys, took me 10 minutes to locate them (they were, of course, in the last place I looked). Got practice in and decided to treat myself to two grilled ham-n-cheese sammiches with lettuce and tomato at the local family restaurant. Twas quite good, along with two big glasses of sweet tea.
And tomorrow, my new washing machine is due to be delivered…I hope. Been quite an interesting week.
It would be illogical to continue searching for an item after it is found.
By definition, lost items always reside in the last place that is searched.
Humor.
It is an illogical concept.
I’m thinking quite the opposite.
Folks, just a friendly reminder; putting personal details, like what town you live in on the interwebz is not a good idea. That is all.
I really hope that how blurfy I feel right now is just a combo of fatigue and having female internal organs cleaning house. I do NOT need whatever “kennel cough” is whipping through the call center right now.
I worked. The truck is now coming on Saturday, and one of my shifts put in her notice. “If it weren’t for bad luck, I’d have no luck at all…”:smack:
Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to work in a bit.
TGIF!!! I was asleep before 9 and I didn’t bother with Mel. I started out letting Taz sleep next to me, but when I got up to pee, he decided it was time to play, so I decided to toss his fuzzy butt out in the hallway and lock the door.
I saw part of an interview with the girl who the cops pepper-sprayed - she did come across as a snotty brat, but I still think it looked bad for the cops to have resorted to pepper spray. Then again, I wasn’t there and all I know is what the TV news chose to show. I will be surprised if there’s no lawsuit over this.
It’s my last day with an office of my own. Oh, my life is so hard <dramatic pose of woe>

Considering most of my career was spent as a cubicle denizen, this is absolutely no big deal. I just hope my new office mate doesn’t douse himself with cologne or eat stinky stuff for lunch every day. But I always have the option to quit, so there’s that.
Happy Firday!
Happy firday!
Today I shall be mostly messin’ about at the allotment and scrumping for apples. Well, today I’m looking for trees to go pick next week, as it looks like I shall be able to get access to a proper apple press next Saturday. There are loads of apple trees all over the city that aren’t anyone’s, and they just fall off and rot (and attract wasps) if no one picks 'em. Gonna drink some fresh and ferment the rest. Nom.
It’s one of my favourite autumn activities, especially as it’s actually sunny today!
blurf
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up, caffeinated, purtified, and brekkied so no YAWN. 'Tis 71 Amurrkin out and cloudy with a predicted high of 92 and mostly sunny for the day. OYKW and I had brekkie at Pearly’s before he went to irk. Haven’t done that but once since I retired but really enjoyed me some sausage gravy 'n bizkit, grits, and scrambled aigs. I could go back to sleep but I think in a bit I shall go to the liberry. Majik intartoobz pizza has been requested for dindin so what to have for dindin is solved. Mayhaps some quality time at the cee-mint pond will be had this afternoon. Retired life is just fraught with decisions to make!
Happy Firday Y’all!
Happy Firday!
It’s a sunny 63 outside, going up to 88! today. Then the temps are supposed to drop down into the 70s.
Good day to give the dog a bath.
I hate to stress him though, he had a seizure last night, but he really needs a bath.
Once I was able to fall asleep I slept pretty good last night.
I feel like I’m alive this morning.
FCM - I agree that they probably shouldn’t have pepper sprayed her in the car. That looks bad. However, I admire their restraint. I’d probably done it sooner.
They already have a lawyer who is spinning the story. I’m sure they’ll make a few million out of it.
I’m disgusted with the way the media is projecting it.
I don’t see her as a poor little brutalized girl, I see her as a spoiled brat who needs a wake-up call.
Time to irk, and then get some stuff done around here.
Sah-son is reaching panic level now with all the school work that needs to be done. His English paper is due Sunday and he still doesn’t have a topic. He was bouncing ideas off me last night. This is where he annoys the hell out of me, I keep telling him to start this stuff earlier. Now he is going to be pacing back and forth in the living room, which makes me irritated and more bitchy than usual.
Sari, ain’t children wonderful? (being (1) a life-long bachelor and (2) safely out of your reach, I think I can say that…:p:cool:
Otherwise, Blurfy McBlurf-face. The last of this weeks projects (my new washing machine) showed up nice and early, I had disconnected the old one (made only a moderate amount of mess), so it went smoothly, the new machine fit through the door fine and went right into the spot, the delivery folks connected it up and…it didn’t work. No power. Checked the outlet (it worked) and plugged it into other outlets, but it didn’t power up.
So, the guys left it here, they will report it back to BestBuy and they’ll bring it out and replace it free of charge…and I still can’t wash my stuff.
So, new roof, relocated DirectTV antenna, punctured hose to Air Conditioner that used up all the Freon, and a brand new washer what doesn’t wash.
Heck of a week.
blurf. Playing hooky today. I really don’t feel good.
Metalmouse. You have had some bad luck this week. Here’s hoping it gets better from here on.
What would James Bolivar diGriz do?
I’m trying to get my office rearranged before the n00b shows up. As it is, he’ll have virtually no space while I’ve got a bunch of real estate behind me. The desks are L-shaped, and if we put the corners of the L into opposite corners of the room, the excess real estate would be between us, making better use of the space.
Ideally, I’d like to have his desk in my corner and give him my desk, but one would have to be disassembled to do that and that’s way too much work. I can deal with keeping my desk and sitting along the shorter leg of the L. Otherwise, I’d have my back to the office and the door, and I don’t like that. Not out of fear of gunmen, but because when I’m concentrating on something and someone comes up behind me to speak to me, it generally scares the bedoobies outta me! So if I can sit with the door in my peripheral vision, it’ll be better for my nervous system.
Anyway, I talked to our receptionist and she’s going to talk to whoever handles stuff like that. If the doggone desk wasn’t so heavy, I’d move it myself. But I’d rather not destroy my back, TYVM.
And on that note, back to work…
And the decision has been made - my desk will be scooted back about 8" against the side of the pillar. By scooting his down and flat against mine, he’ll gain 9-10" between the end of his desk and the wall - enough space to stick the computer out of the way. And if we find that doesn’t work, we can do the corner option. I voiced my opinions and ultimately agreed with the facilities manager, because I’m just a peon after all!
yummy salad from the deli on its way for my lunch
Yum! Cider rocks, nuts.
It looks like I’ll be here all day. Oh well.
