Gotta go with muffin, preferably cranberry-orange.
You?

I can’t resist the everything bagel. It rocks!
Bagel. Everything. Toasted. Cream cheese and strawberry jam.
Toasted bagel with cream cheese, smoked salmon, red onion, bacon and tomato. But I do like toasted muffins with butter and peanut butter, or with tuna.
Bagel is one of my major food groups. Poppy seed is my favorite, but I’m flexible.
Can’t we have both?
A lightly toasted pumpernickel bagel is heaven if I’m actually hungry. A muffin is satisfying in a yummy dessert type of way.
Salt bagel, toasted and lightly schmeared with cream cheese.
I usually go with a plain bagel, buttered. But I also like blueberry and banana muffins. Depends on how hungry I am.
Everything bagel with veggie cream cheese. Caveat: it must be boiled before it’s baked. Otherwise, it’s just round bread.
Absolutely. It has to be a bagel. The round bread sellers should be put out of business for fraud.
The vast majority of you have never had a real bagel.
I bought my house specifically because it’s within walking distance of St. Viateur bagels.
Hmm… possibly I’m missing the appeal of bagels…
Love banana muffins, cornmeal, and caramel! (Not all at once, I think…)
Poppy seed bagel. My consumption has actually dropped recently. I probably only have 3-4 a week. At one time I ate more like 2 per day.
Bagels of course. Although people eat both for breakfast, the choice never felt between them as much as a bagel with cream cheese or a buttered roll but buttered rolls for breakfast are apparently a Jersey thing.
Gosh, I wish I was one of the cool people.
Homemade (boiled, of course) bagel with either sesame seeds or poppy seeds. Cream cheese alone is great, but with smoked salmon and a bit of chopped red onion is sublime.
Muffins are nice, especially pumpkin chocolate chip ones or lemon glazed… but bagels win for me.
Muffin.
Cornbread and/or Banana Nut. Warmed and absolutely slathered with butter.
Served with an ICE COLD glass of milk.
Bagel. Onion. Or everything. Or a toasted cinnamon raisin with butter AND cream cheese AND jelly. Or plain with whitefish. And why can I never find a garlic bagel? That would go so good with veggie cream cheese. Or as mentioned in my favorite sandwich thread, untoasted onion, butter ham and cheese. Oooh-- a bialy scallion cream cheese and lox.
O.K., a bialy isn’t really a bagel but it is close enough.
You call yourself a chef and you’ve never heard of Montreal bagels? Puh-lease.
I worked in a bakery for a while when I was in college. I’d eat bagels fresh from the boiler, before they were baked, and they’d be swimming in butter. These and a half-gallon of whole milk would be my early-morning breakfast. :o
Muffins are good with a cup of hot black coffee, but they too must be slathered with butter!
