What's your favourite bagel?

Poll, but about food, so moderators please move if you’re so inclined.

Dave just came home with a bag of bagels from a client’s bagel shop. I swear that the bagel I just ate is the best thing I have ever put in my mouth. Normally I prefer cinnamon-raisin (toasted sometimes, usually just plain eaten like a doughnut), but this was a chocolate chunk type of thing. No idea exactly but it was wonderful. What’s your favourite kind, and what do you put on it?

I mentioned mine; my husband likes Onion, toasted, with cream cheese and tomatoes.

I have a few.

Onion, toasted, with herb and garlic cream cheese.
Asiago cheese, toasted, with either herb and garlic cream cheese or butter and sprinkled with parmesan.
Or Everything, same as the Asiago.

Absolute best is the fresh bagels. mmm.

Funny thing is, bagels are the only food that I prefer bland as hell. I love a plain bagel sliced toasted and slathered with plain cream cheese.

Sesame seed bagels. I also like cinnamin raisin bagels, but sesame seed are better for sandwiches or interesting varieties of cream cheese.)

(I’ve told this story before, but I can’t resist including it here. My four-year-old niece likes plain bagels and bagels with chocolate sprinkles. (Otherwise known as “donuts”)).


Pumpernickel, toasted and buttered. To my mouth, that’s the best.

Everything bagel. Garlic, sesame, poppy seed, salt. Topped with jalepeno cream cheese. No better way to start the morning.

Everything, poppy or sesame with lox and the works.

I don’t like sweet bagels at all, but to each his own.


Because, like with pizza, its presence negates the unhealthy part. (Cream cheese.)

Everything bagel with scallion cream cheese. Damn, I’m drooling for one right now.

poppyseed. With cream cheese and bacon. And apple juice. Dream sunday breakfast.

Plain bagel, lightly toasted, butter.

I don’t understand how anybody can like any bagels. They’re totally inedible as far as I’m concerned.

Sesame, topped with chive & onion cream cheese.

Tomatoes on top sounds delicious, now. Maybe with a little garlic, goat cheese, and some balsamic vinaigrette. It’ll be like bagel bruschetta.

When I treat myself to them, I prefer onion bagels, toasted, topped with cream cheese.

Everything lightly toasted with butter and honey.

Everything. Toasted with either lox, capers and cream cheese, or bacon (or pork roll), egg, and cheese.

Everything bagel, with scrambled egg & a sausage patty.

Almost as good as biscuits and sausage gravy… or a Bickford’s Hash Smash. (Hash, eggs, and cheeze on a bagel)

A local place has Black Russian Bagels–very dark pumpernickel with onion and sesame seeds. Food for a goddess.

A toasted buttered salt bagel with (soy) bacon–The (Veggie) Sammich O’Death

I always dig a plain with plain, or wheat with plain (cream cheese). I love cream cheese too much to go often for a bagel that doesn’t need it, like cinnamon crunch, etc.
