Wow, I didn’t know people that stupid even existed. I stand corrected.
In Yellowstone there are sometimes people who smother their hands in honey and try to get the bears to lick it off. I also read about a guy in Yellowstone who attempted to put his kid on a bear’s back to get a good picture.
And I did see some footage of the guy jumping on the whale and patting the sharks. Jumping on the whale carcass was pretty damn stupid. Anything after that is just gravy. Jumping on a surface I’m not entirely sure is stable while sharks feed all around me is not a good idea. Hell, someone asked the guy if he was an idiot and you can hear it on the tape.

Sometimes I wish that the fight against ignorance involved many more deadly weapons.
Weird. This video just popped up on The Daily Show as I was entering in that last post. What a MORON!!
Any bets that a folk song gets made about him that becomes more popular than Waltzing Matilda?
Oh, there are many.
Read the book The Darwin Awards by Wendy Northcut. It’s a book dedicated to people who have “removed themselves from the gene pool” by doing this sort of stupid stuff.
I saw this guy last night on the news and was stunned at how dumb it was. My news then went further and talked about other dummies such as a woman who tried to lift her 2 year old child into a lion’s cage at the zoo to pet it.I can understand taking your life in your own hands but taking your kid’s? I just hope the kid doesn’t grow up as dumb as the Mom.
Jeez, I hope the kid gets a chance to grow up at all!
Anyway, does anyone know of any place online where I can find video of the moronic stunt referenced in the OP?
Here ya go:

There’s a link on the page above to a video clip. I saw it on the news last night.
Here in the midwest, people ride their snowmobiles across frozen lakes in the dead of winter because it’s a faster way to and from the bar on the other side of the lake. Every year, several people break through the ice and drown. One memorable story from a couple years ago was from a guy who said, “Only idiots break through,” then set out across the lake.
Truer last words were never spoken.
Lady,
Are you aware they have a email newsletter of tales from the shallow end of the gene pool? Same people send it out…monthly? (don’t recall frequency)
…and a website. http://www.darwinawards.com
The problem is that most of the people eligible for the Darwin Awards have already reproduced, hence they are not removed from the gene pool.
And nobody thought to push these morons in?
Tripler
Save a whale? Feh. I say save the gene pool.
Australia, eh? It wasn’t…uh…anyone we know, was it?

Personally, I think it needs a good skimmer.
