Banana Splits TV show

Help me Obi Wan Kenobi your my only hope…I seem to remember on the Saturday morning kids show “The Banana Splits” there was a group of teeny bopper heartthrob boys/men that came on between the banana splits skits. If memory serves one of them wore a blue velvet suit? I think they may have sung…I can’t find any answer to this burning question anywhere and no one I know remembers or for that matter cares. I’m beginning to think I have a made up memory.

The Banana Splits were four costumed actors performing zany slapstick humor. They pun, offer advice and answers to important questions of all time, They also run into each other alot, & carry on like nothing you have ever seen before. They would introduce cartoons & a live action segment called “Danger Island” (directed by Richard Donner). The Splits are the daffiest, wackiest foursome to hit TV since the tube was invented. Recurring segments include: Splits Handshake - Take Out the Trash - Dear Drooper - Mildred - Secret Password - Sour Grapes Messenger Girl - Fleagle News - Club Business - Hold the Bus - The Dilly Sisters - Uh Oh! Chongo, & many Really Groovy Music Videos.

I don’t really have anything to add to answer the OP’s original questions. I just thought this would be a good time to mention that when I was a little kid in the early 70’s, I got to meet the Banana Splits and I got their autographs. It was terribly exciting for me.

My brother and I got to meet them at Korvette’s, a long defunct Dept store that I probably misspelled as I was very little and it was 1970. I am pretty sure I was excited because my brother (6 years older) told me I should be.

I just wanted to say that the final shot of each episiode, in which the animated characters are seemingly transformed into lifeless still images painted on a fence, has given me intermittent nightmares and a general feeling of unease for over 30 years.

Did I ever tell you about the time Brasky and I went hunting? We stalked and murdered every member of the Banana Splits. All of them begged for their lives, except Fleegle.
