I have hair to my butt and bangs. But only about a 2" middle of my forehead bit of bangs. For one thing I wear glasses and full length hair and eyeglass stems looks ridiculous as they (the stems) weave between the hair (I have a lot of sideburn hair which I also keep snipped). Also I don’t like how long hair all over looks on my face (I’m lopsided… it’s less noticeable now than when I was a kid but it shows to me). So I do a snip about every 3 months so my bangs are above my eyebrows (and away from my glasses) and about once a decade I go to a stylist and get the whole front “feathered” but I gave up on the 80’s look by the 90’s. As in no I don’t curl it, backcomb it or use product on it.
I am bitchy but it takes a while for me to show that side to people
For women (or children) with straight hair, bangs are fine and easy to care for if the cut is good.
For everyone else, including people with a cowlick in the front of their heads, bangs mean you do not have brush-n-go hair.
I have wavy hair (which has been a bit past mid-back length, then cut to shoulder length, now growing out and halfway to mid-back again). I had side-swept bangs for a few years, but I’m growing them out for the summer since my preferred summer hairstyle is a top knot. Also, my hair is wavy, and the bangs frizz and get weird when I’m at the pool; they also drive me crazy on hot-humid days.
