WOW! That was, indeed, awesome.
Love it, love it, love it!
Can I get a summary (youtube is blocked @ work)?
Awesome.
It’s blocked where I work also, but if you get CNN, you can read about it here.
Frank is in a public meeting and is asked by a young woman holding a poster showing Obama with a Hitler mustache why he supports the President’s “Nazi” healthcare proposals. Frank asks her what planet she’s from, and derides her for comparing an effort to provide healthcare to more people to the genocidal policies of the Nazis. He then says there’s no point in talking to her any further.
He asked the woman on which planet she spends most of her time, and compared having a conversation with her to talking with a dining room table.
Captain_Awesome concurs that Barney Frank is indeed awesome. Captain_Awesome also promises never to refer to himself in the third person ever again.
What is his awesomeness rank?
Too bad the woman gave him an excuse not to engage. Not that he would have otherwise - but then there wouldn’t be any threads about it.
Regards,
Shodan
Why wouldn’t he engage? Barney Frank is known for his bluntness. I certainly think he can run circles around the nebulous arguments the right throws against health care reform.
That’s not a remotely fair analysis.
I’m not by any stretch of the imagination a Barney Frank fan, but his response to her was entirely justified. And you cannot fairly conclude that he would have been similarly dismissive of reasoned debate. “Because you didn’t engage the crazy woman, we know you wouldn’t have engaged the rational speakers either!”
That simply doesn’t follow.
And now you’ve made me defend Barney Frank. Thanks a lot.
Other coverage showed clips of Frank responding to a claim that Obama wants to give free health care to illegal aliens. He pulled out a copy of the bill and showed exactly where the health benefits wouldn’t be given to illegal immigrants.
I’d call that pretty substantive engagement.
He sounds gay.
Where is Bricker and what have you done with his body?
Or Jewish.
Barney Frank is smart, he went to an Ivy League school didn’t he?
I can’t wait for him to do to medical care what he did to Fannie and Freddie…
His intentions were good and that is all that counts.
No, this was an *ideal *person to engage. She demonstrated very publicly what substance the anti-reform “movement” is based on, and gave Frank a fine opportunity to expose that to the mass of waverers and proudly-ignorant deniers who are now so effectively impeding reform.
If he hadn’t done it, he’d have helped to let the crazies think not only that they’d won but that they had arguments the traitor Dems couldn’t answer. But he chose to help deflate that bubble instead.
Can you conclude instead that he somehow damaged the reform cause in any way?
How is Fox covering this, btw?
“Queer liberal Jew assaults patriot!”
No, that’s quite fair and balanced.
“Liberal Jew queer assaults patriot!”
Much better.
