Baseball - How's your team doing?

Rogers definitely had his “A” game going. That was beautiful to watch. Watching Johnson wasn’t so pretty. I think he’s about done for.

I can’t believe it, that was the game of Rodger’s life. He was the worst post-season pitcher with 20+ innings until last night. I am sure he was more thrilled with last night than even his perfect game.
He pitched great and the Yankee’s hitters looked dumb. The Yankee season now comes down to the shaky arm of Wright. This is not a good thing.

Well, as Yogi said, “It ain’t over, til it’s over.”

Jim

If it’s any consolation, my ex-roommate Derek (from the Bronx) has said that it’ll end up like the Yankees-A’s series did a tew years ago when the A’s had a two game lead and lost the next three (I believe that was the amazing play by Jeter/non-slide by Jeremy Giambi year).

I don’t see it happening for the Yankees. I’d go to the game myself, but damn. Michigan-Michigan State, the Tigers game (with at LEAST 50 bucks for standing room only seats), and the Lions, this could be a very good weekend in the Detroit sports world. We’re getting used to having those…you know…being the best sports city in America these days…ahem.

In any case, last night was definitely a message game. The Yankees looked foolish and Rogers looked like Greg Maddux circa 1996. I’m hoping for a damned good game tonight. Like always, the higher the score, the more it favors the Yankees. If it’s a pitchers’ duel (especially trotting out Mr. Wright and the fabulously lackluster bullpen), Detroit has a massive edge.

Someone say that pitching wins in the postseason? I heard that before…I’ve heard it many times…I just…can’t quite figure out…who…said it now…hm…

God, we’re going! What do you want? An outboard rectal motor?

Yeesh!

just remember…EVERYONE roots against the Yankees

If Detroit wins, it will at least give me someone to root for during the rest of the post-season. My Dodgers are dead in the water, the Padres are floating right beside them, and I refuse to root for any team from the Bay Area. The added bonus will be that they eliminated the hated Yankees in the first round. So…three cheers for the Tigers!

Young (Old) man, I shall save a spot for you on the bandwagon. Consider this your ticket and feel free to print this out so when you spread pro-Tigers propaganda, you can point to this and have currency.

Keny Rogers made me a believer… I just hope Bonderman has his “A” game today. He makes me nervous… you just don’t know which Jeremy will show up.

Just goes to show you; there ain’t no such thing as a clutch player.

That said, the Yankees are not dead. I’m still nervious as hell about the possibility of a Subway Boredom Series.

If we somehow win today, and this is no more improbable then Detroit winning 6-0 yesterday, the Yankees have a good shot Tomorrow with Wang at Home. It will be all hands on deck today except Wang. I believe he is currently in the Bronx or at least wherever he calls home during the season.

Jim {Let’s save the clutch debate for the Hot-stove season, as it is practically a religious debate, I would rather not get into it now :wink: }

Bonderman’s looking better than Rogers did yesterday. Pure domination (as of right now, the 5th inning). This is what they looked like in the first two-thirds of the season (you know, when they were actually ON tv. Yes, that’s right. For a short time, the Tigers were winning big and not even on TV).

By the way, I wish to add that the Tigers seem to be running on the noodle-armed Damon. He REALLY needs to be moved to left field. Just being fast doesn’t make you a center fielder. Ignore the fact that Craig Monroe is a pretty pedestrian defender himself in left field.

Also, a note, that kid they keep showing in the stands dressed up like a tiger is damned cute.
That’s all for now.
Ouch, 6-0. So, Jim, how revamped is the pitching staff going to be? Furthermore, who’s on your watch for a new third baseman?

Just me or did Abreu short arm that foul ball in the bottom of the fifth? I’d like to think he could have got that/put some more effort into it.

At least it won’t be a shut-out. It is going to be a strange off-season in the Bronx & Tampa.

Sorry, Jim.

Not really. That felt good.

What felt good? Huh? Would you let me know EXACTLY what’s going on so I can play along?

Ordinarily I would feel slightly guilty about this, but it’s the Yankees, so I will revel in Detroit’s stunning victory. That was some of the best pitching I’ve seen all year, and in the 2 games where they had to have it. Now you just have to stomp the A’s.

Feel good, Tiger fans. Your faith has been rewarded. And a big “Plplplplp!” to those of us who have ignored the team all year, for whatever reason. Rub it in our faces…we deserve it.

Congrats LOUNE and GonzoMax, I am not sure how it happened, but the better team won. Now could you please explain to me where that team was in those last three games against KC?

Silenus: I think you will be joining me on the sidelines soon, unfortunately I can derive no enjoyment from your team losing. At least I should have WKRP in a few days.

Jim

Where was the team? I dunno. I think that they might have been looking to the playoffs. They might have just had a slump. Maybe they’re just hitting that zone…I dunno.

We were wondering that against KC as well. For the record, KC was playing some very good ball at the end. The Tigers, with their talent, still should have beat them, but baseball is a funny game.
So, where are the Yankees going? Who’s going? Who’s staying?

Mother fucking Dodgers. Maddux can’t get out of the first inning. WTF?

No shit. When the wheels come off, the wheels come off. C’mon, Dodgers! Buckle down!
