I hate folks who try to profit from ignorance or stupidity. I hate the folks who just sell fake SHIT. I hate Ebay because they don’t care about fraudulent sellers (I can only speak about Ebay.au but I cannot find how to report a listing for something that is a scam unless it involves copy write violation). And of course by the time some sucker realises that their seeds do not produce anything like a rainbow rose - or for that matter a rose at all. There is bloody way to complain about it.
I have pretty much given up on buying rocks and minerals (I bought s a piece of sulphur - I got a piece of quartz painted yellow just an example) I got my money back and that person got banned - for 1 month and is probably selling fake shit to more suckers as we speak. so much for the whole “ebay sides with the buyer all the time” bullshit.
Ebay sides with the money. as long as they get money they do not care
Rainbow roses are made by splitting the stem an using food colouring - google it. The are really pretty and not hard to make. Just don’t try to sell fucking rainbow rose seeds.
These ones actually exist - they just look nothing like the pictures of big white strawberries with red seeds - then there are the blue, yellow and green strawberries - isn’t Photoshop just great:mad:
There are innumerable other things like this on ebay - feel free to share if you wish. Now I am going off in a huff which will probably only last until I need to buy something off ebay again:smack:
I have been reporting them as fraudulent - however the only fraudelent option I can select is: The listing has items being sold without the owner’s authorisation. You didn’t bid. And there is it seems no longer any way to contact ebay except through a bunch od narrowly defines forms. gahhhhhh:mad:
Why exactly do you keep buying on e-bay? I never did and about every thread I read about e-bay convinces me that I never should. In fact, the more time passes, the worst e-bay seems to become, from what I read here. Do you really need to buy there (no other options for whatever you’re seeking, for instance)? Shouldn’t you vote with your wallet?
No other options is the main reason. I live in a small rural Australian town, I don’t drive so anything I cannot get here in town I buy off the internet. Aussie online retailers are very overpriced and unfortunately places like Amazon and basically every American online retailer wont sell outside the US. There are competitors to ebay here but they are smaller and have less variety.
By the way, don’t buy (or at least be careful about buying) USB thumb drives. In recent times, fraudsters have discovered a way to make a drive appear to your computer to have a much larger capacity than actual. You can copy files to these drives without errors, but reading them back will prove impossible.
That is the way of all internet. In recent months Google has grown so commercial, pushing sites that paid for the privilege and listing first your “favorites” rather than sites you haven’t tried already, that its usefulness is nothing but a dim memory.
Yeah, that one’s fake. The listings for stripe paint, though, are COMPLETELY legit. In fact, I have several listings of it up now! Starting at only $75 a gallon!
You laugh, but my grandfather did indeed invent and patent an actual striped paint after being the butt of a practical joke in the army. I can’t find the patent, because his name was Robert Shepherd, and there’s about two zillion variants of that name in the patent database, including a Robert Shepherd who was pivotal in inventing paintball (but that wasn’t my grandfather). But I have seen the patent in the past, and the paint. It was never marketed though, 'cause it was just too weird, and you had to hold the brush really still so as not to disrupt the stripes. And besides, he only invented it to be a smartass.
Honestly, if somebody’s dumb enough to fall for the “rainbow rose seeds” scam or something else that freaking obvious, I really don’t feel all that sorry for them. Caveat emptor and all.
If you didn’t buy a can of steam with the rose seeds, of course they won’t work. You must have the 16 oz can of steam. I’m surprised they didn’t tell you that. I’d be happy to sell you a few MRW, if you can’t get them elsewhere that is.
With genetic engineering and advanced hybridization and whatnot, you really can’t blame people for falling for this stuff. Heck, even colored/dyed flowers are very common in grocery stores these days, and unless you ever really stop to investigate it, you might think they were natural.
When I taught high school physics, it blew me away how many things young adults simply do not know.
Last time I bought that I put it on the wrong way and ended up with horizontal stripes instead of vertical. What a pain that was setting that right. Never again.
