Bathropes

Only if you want it to out out

:smack: Mind in. Gonna stop posting now until after the caffeine kicks in.

Jim Gaffigan does a hilarious bit about getting a robe for Christmas.

I use to always have a robe. I’d come home from work, change my clothes and don my robe. Now that I think about it, I’m not sure what clothing I’d change into! I don’t think I would have put on pj’s that early. But the robe is what we’d lounge around in. Then, thankfully, loungewear like sweats, flannel pants, etc. came into style. I ditched the robe and never looked back. I haven’t had or worn a robe in 25 years or more.

On the chance that the OP is monitoring this thread, it would be helpful to know what material and style you have now that is “uncomfortably warm”. If you are currently wearing a full length, asbestos lined bear skin robe we may be able to help. If your current robe is thigh length light cotton, not so much.

I ought to buy a bathrobe myself. During the winter sometimes it is too cold in the house right after a bath and I want something absorbent and warm until I warm up and dry off, a role which is currently filled by pjs and/or a sweater.

Hmm it is cotton.

Do you live in the tropics? Cotton is supposed to be cool and light. Look for a single layer light weight cotton robe. Non-brushed.

I have three silk robes that I love. They’re wonderfully cool in the summer and keep me cozy in the winter, which in Orlando(ish) isn’t that winter-y.

That’s not a bathrobe: it’s a dressing gown. Or possibly a smoking jacket (although those are often shorter, they don’t have to be).

This thread made me smile.

Yes, when she gave it to me she described it as a smoking jacket. I considered it and used it as a bathrobe. Worn while smoking a bowl, I’d likely melt holes all over it.

Bamboo isn’t very absorbent, but very cool and light. I have a thick cotton robe for the winter and a bamboo one for warm weather.

(I am also disappointed that the actual subject isn’t what was advertised. As to bathropes, I would think that silk would be best. Soft and strong, won’t stretch when wet and pretty light. Cotton would be heavier and rougher against the skin. I would probably avoid hemp as too scratchy.)

So you own a thread-weight bathrope? I’ll bet that’s comfortably cool.

I see you’ve played robie-gownie before!

The game of dis-robie/un-gownie is more fun.IMHO.

Then why bring it up damn it!? You made me want something I can’t have.

Bamboo in fabric, ropes in baths. WTF? Do we live in the future?

They make towels out of it.

Not right now you don’t, but it’s always less than a second away.

You just gave me my first good laugh of the day! Thank you
