Batshit crazy Michele Bachmann strikes again!

I don’t have any evidence at all, just the knowledge of what happened in the last two presidential elections, the knowledge that the fuckers have had 8 years to perfect techniques and think up new ways to get rid of votes, and a deep, DEEP mistrust of Republicans in general.

How do you know that?

I’d love to be wrong. It would make me very very happy to be wrong, but to get my hopes up the way I did in 2000 and 2004 is an open invitation to be violently smacked down.

The electoral college means nothing until the people vote (and their votes are counted) and the votes mean nothing until the electoral college people do their thing. All the polls and punditry in the world can’t say what’s going to happen until late election night/early the next day.

Ok.

Are you one of those Republicans who still pooh-poohs the voting fuckups of 2000 and 2004? If so, fuck off. If not, well, fuck off anyway.

Right. Check the thread title again, then check my other comments in this thread. Your comments in this thread remind me of my right-wing cousins who honestly believe Obama is a Muslim terrorist.

Healthy skepticism is fine but you seem to be edging over into unhealthy paranoia; that’s ugly no matter what side it’s coming from.

I’ve tried to be a voice of sanity a couple of times, and all it’s gotten me is drenched in spittle. I’m frankly not very pleased with some of my fellow travellers.

…because that’s how polls WORK. Different polls will get slightly different results, without the population shifting at all.

Unhealthy paranoia? I just happen to have a memory, that’s all. What happened in the past two elections is fact. To think it won’t or can’t happen in the future is admirable but insane. On the other hand, it doesn’t keep me up at night because there’s absolutely nothing I can do about it so my gut attitude is, why let it affect my blood pressure or stress me out? Whatever will happen will happen, and if anyone were to care, I don’t even read, let alone get involved in the various voter fraud threads here. If I read them my stress level would rise, so I just stay out.

Still, I realize I’ve probably mentioned my unease in too many threads and will not do it again. Que Sera, Sera, after all.

I still hope Bachmann gets her ass kicked.

It’s okay, I totally know where you’re coming from–it’s been tough for me to allow myself to hope again and I keep having all these “knock wood” superstition moments that sometimes escalate into panic attacks. My poor daughter’s had nightmares where she woke up screaming thinking Palin had made it to the White House and was shooting polar bears on the front lawn! It’s hard to be an optimistic progressive these days and we all kinda keep expecting to see the Dem curse leap out and force us to watch helplessly as we snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. With all that being said, though, I’ve been endlessly impressed by the calm, thorough competence of the Obama campaign and Obama himself and I’ve seen that influence moving into the downline races as well, to the point where the GOP itself is actually saying they think they’re going to lose more seats by a large margin than any Dem would go on record saying we can win.

I’m willing to say out loud in a witchcraft thread, no less, that I am actually experiencing the audacity of hope. It’s okay, less than two weeks, deep breaths!

Whoops! Wrong thread entirely–the demon Bachmann must have twaddled my turnip or something… :smack: I think I need a nappy poo…

Barack Obama’s campaign is urging his supporters to vote early. It’s pushing them to vote early as much as possible. They think the more early votes they have, the better. If there was any chance that early votes were more likely to be tossed, they would not be doing this.

Ed

SmartAleq, I have to try and forget I read about your daughter’s nightmare, because knowing my brain, I’ll start dreaming that too!

waves! That’s good to know. I said in another thread that I was heartened to read that Obama has assembled a huge number of lawyers and volunteers to keep an eye out for and jump on any cases of fraud. That did make me feel somewhat better, but I can’t yet feel the audacity of hope (love that title SmartAleq). Maybe next week. The rock is showing cracks.

Even if Obama wins, I would want there to be an accounting of all problems with early voting and election day voting, ranging from too long lines from not enough machines to people taking machines home to whatever else. Just because Obama wins doesn’t mean the subject should be dropped. This is a bi-partisan hope. Democrats shouldn’t get away with any shenanigans either, though I do think the Republicans are making too big a deal out of the ACORN problems, considering that it was ACORN themselves who brought the world’s attention to what happened, and that false voter registrations do not translate into false votes.

Bachmann now “explains” that she didn’t mean Obama was anti-American. Just against America.

Not only did Tinkleburg get $1.3 million in donations, but the DCCC gave him another $1 million. Mean while, Bachmann loses her RNCC support.

The RNC has been cutting and running a lot this past week.

It’s really very satisfying to see the divisive, negative bullshit NOT work for once.

Oh it worked-just in the opposite way she intended it to.

Check out this article from the local media.

“Chris Matthews did what Chris Matthews is paid big bucks to do: Twist my words and set them up for full-fledged distortion when his next guest came on,” she wrote. “And, when the liberal blogs got hold of little clips of my appearance, the spin machine really kicked into overdrive. … They’re motivated entirely by their hatred of me and my conservative beliefs.”
Then read the comments. Sure, she’s getting fried, but there are an amazing number of people posting such things as;

You have my vote. Women are getting ripped by the media. You and Sarah Palin are showing tremendous courage. Our daughters are going to know that they can do anything with Palin and McCain in the White House and you retaining your seat in the house. Great job!!

and

Her only mistake was to apologize. She was absolutely correct in her assesment of Obamah. The media and general PC public is too afriad to even question Obamah, because they are afraid to be called racist. There is 10 times more scrutiny in Palin the Obama. American’s are afraid to admit he is a radical and this will show when they vote, not in polls or media…! Thanks Bachmann for telling like we all feel

Who’s “we all”? :dubious:

What cracks me up is she wanted the media to do an expose on all of Congress to find out who is American and who is anti-American. If publicly burning for your own divisive comments isn’t the very definition of ‘hoisted by your own petard’ I don’t know what is.

And oh, how cute and provocative she thought she was being. So clever. Turning it around on Matthews like that.

I love absolutely everything about this story so far. If she loses, I will be proud to have had a little hand in it.

:dubious: If this is such a well-known fact about Chris Matthews, then why did she agree to be interviewed by him on Hardball in the first place?

“Serpentine, 'Chele, serpentine!”

If any investigation starts, they will probably uncover Bachmans’ connections to the Tom Petters organization, which recently went under, taking with it something like $3 billion of investors money. Apparently a big Ponzi scheme, with the money siphoned off by executives.

And Bachman was trying to use her friendship with Geo Bush to get them pardons for their previous criminal activities!
