Norm’s not nuts. He’s a pure self promoter with ambition, and I’m not personally fond of him, but he isn’t nuts. And he is pretty moderate as a Senator - for a Republican."
Hitler was born Adolph Schickelgruber. His dad who was not there came by and had him take his last name. If he did not, Adolph would have never made it as Schickelgruber. So Tinkleberg is not that bad.
Now I’m hearing a sequel to “Chicago (That Toddlin’ Town)”: “Saint Pa-aul, Saint Pa-aul, that tinklin’ berg…”
Probably been done many, many times already, hasn’t it?
By Tuesday night, it is expected to be over $1 million.
Causing a bit of a problem – how do you spend that much effectively with only 14 days left before election day?
TV ads are an obvious place (and I did see a new one for El Tinklenberg last night), but there is not really much ad time left available in the next 2 weeks – it’s been bought up by the presidential & CD-3 campaigns.
Mailings might be tough – you have to get a lit piece designed, printed (and printers are pretty busy right now), obtain a list, and get it into the mail with enough time to arrive and affect the voters.
It might be most effective to spend it on hiring people on the ground to do doorknocking & voter identification, to add to the list of supportive voters for GOTV efforts. But finding, hiring, & training those people that quickly is a problem.
But it’s a nice problem to have – to be suddenly flooded with vast, unexpected money to spend!
A bunch El Tinklenberg ads have suddenly appeared on the airwaves here, both on TV and radio. The surprisng thing to me is that (at least in the ones I’ve seen and heard), Tinklenberg is not attempting to attack Bachman. They’re just very positive, biographical kinds of ads. He’s introducing himself, saying “here’s who I am and what I’ve done,” but he’s not even mentioning Bachman’s name. I think introducing himself is something he needs to do, but I’m surprised he’s not saying anything at all about Bachman.
He doesn’t need to attack her… plenty of others doing it for him. Smart move being the nice guy for disgruntled Republicans can not feel bad about voting for.
They don’t have to - from Doug Grow’s column linked above:
Considering Bachmann’s stupid statements, the write-in campaign, the mountain of donations (I heard the national Democratic party was going to send another million) and the fact that Tinklenberg is endorsed by the Independence Party as well as the Democratic Party, I think Bachmann could actually lose this right-wing district. If so, MN will likely send seven Dems and one Rep to the House. Just two years ago it was 4-4.
And now it looks like the GOP is pulling its ad buys for Bachmann’s campaign, whoopsy! My, I would say Miss Michele done comprehensively screwed the proverbial pooch, wouldn’t you?
Mmmm, schadenfreude is my mostest favorite flavor!
A fact (or two) short, and a generation late.
It was Alois Hitler who was born a Shicklgruber, to an unmarried mother. She later married Johann Hiedler. In 1876, though Hiedler was long dead, Alois and witnesses convinced a parish priest that Hiedler was Alois’ real father (which he very well may have been), and Alois took the name Hitler long before Adolph was born.
That’s fantastic! I’m slowly beginning to think that election night might actually be fun, that I might not have to spend it in a sleeping pill-induced coma under 3 blankets from 6pm-8am then spend the next week staying away from any media sources. That’s what I did in 2004. But, for now, that’s still my plan. The early voting is very, VERY worrisome to me, and I still do not trust the polls at all. My rock solid belief that McCain will win in a landslide is beginning to crumble, but it’s still intact.
I hope Michelle gets her ass handed to her though. Go El!

Sheesh. I am so slow.
Obama’s way ahead in early voting. Why is that worrisome? Why don’t you trust the polls?
Last I checked, if McCain won every state in which he is currently down by less than 10, he’d get 283 votes. That’s not going to happen, and even if it did it wouldn’t be a landslide.
Well I’ll be damned. The OP was right - her eyes always DO look like that!
I know they favor Obama, that’s why I’m worried. I would not be one bit surprised to find out that the vast majority of those early votes are going to “disappear” prior to Election Day and not be counted at all. That worries me because those vapor votes are siphoning off Election Day votes and if it’s a close race, they could make the difference between a win and a loss.
Why should I? People lie to pollsters, and even if they don’t lie, people change their minds based on the most fleeting and stupid shit (ooh, Palin dressed nice today…polls are up!) and the constant fluctuations are frustrating and maddening.
I did say that my rock solid belief that McCain will win in a landslide is beginning to crumble, but it’s still intact. Maybe it won’t be a landslide after all, but I still think he’ll win.
Oh and, I may be an ignorant ass regarding the electoral college, but doesn’t Cheney oversee those guys?
Yeah, see? The fact that there even had to BE a Superior Court ruling is what boggles my mind. What kind of shenanigans are going on that don’t make it to the Superior Court, or any Court, or gets any notice at all?
Why yes, I don’t trust Republicans, why do you ask?
I’d be interested to see what evidence you have that early votes get thrown away any more than regular votes do.
The constant fluctuations are statistical noise, not people switching back and forth.
Wait, after my example showing that on a phenomenally, unrealistically good night McCain would barely win, you still think he will, though maybe not in a landslide? What?
To my knowledge, no, the Vice President does not oversee it. He approves the count, but that’s not the same thing.
Equipoise? Please step away from the KoolAid. You’re scaring me.
