Battlefield 2 Sucks

I want to play DC more than I want to play bf2… but I damaged my bf1942 CD and I can’t install it.

Can’t argue with that. DC definitely has its one-ups on Battlefield 2. Lots of them in fact. Better maps. Better vehicle selection. Balance wasn’t as good though, but that’s something of a plus too.

Shame about the CD.

Don’t know if it’s worth the postage, but most game manufacturers will send you a new CD if you send them the old one first. Check out their website and see what they’ll do.

Haven’t you been reading the thread? It’s EA we’re talking about here!

Though, since you’ve the original, and a valid install key… there are alternative methods of retrieving the install files…

I’ve said too much already…

I wasn’t sure if it’d be better to add this here or in the BF2 players thread. However, something about the title seems appropriate at the moment.

How about that new patch, eh?

The Good:

  • Medic’s defibrillator on a timer.
  • G3/L85A1 balance changes.
  • More ranks!

The Bad:

  • I can’t take on three people at once anymore.
  • Red/Blue name bug remains (and worse.)
  • AA is too strong and absurdly implemented. Missiles making 90+ degree turns instantly.
  • HP reduction on air is too great.
  • Support is overpowered with 1/8th the recoil as before.
  • None of the fixes (dolphin diving, m203s etc) worked.
  • More unlocks hurt performance.
  • No bug fixes.

The Ugly:

  • So many new bugs I doubt DICE knows QA exists.

Can the UAVs be shot down after the latest patch?

Yep.

Plus, the first Support unlock is now an automatic sniper rifle (I can put a 3-4 round burst into somebody and kill him from a couple blocks away, rather than emptying the belt at point blank range and being ignored).

More to the point with the Medic, the healing packs & shock paddles now share the same “resupply” pool, so if you drop all your medic packs and take out your shock paddles, you have to wait to revive somebody; or, if you run around reviving people, you have to wait to drop healing packs. No more 120-point rounds in Karkand…

Great, I’m glad they just tweaked it a bit instead of totally changing the behavior, cause that would have sucked. I see auto-sniper whoring becoming the latest fashion.

I absolutely love the current state of AA and helicopters. True, it means the end of Black Hawk squads with medics and engineers riding along, but the fact that surface-to-air missiles are actually a threat to helicopters is so valuable to me that I’m able to live with the other quirks of 1.2.

There’s a BF2 players thread? Link please!

Awwwwwww, crap! And I betcha none of the ranked servers will let you on unless you have the patch. Bah.

Max.

Call of Duty is the greatest first person shooter engine ever designed. its a precision game and you can do a lot of realistic body movements if you learn how to play the Q-C-Z-E cross bed of keys correctly.

the expansion to the original call of duty, kind of screwed up game play because of the size of the maps (much larger)…

there is a new COD out now, i havent played it, so i dont know about it, but highly reccomend picking it up (at least the original) if you are looking for a good ww2 fps

Here.

I haven’t been able to play more than one round without getting disconnected since the patch came out. Might be Earthlink, might be BF2. Might be martians.

Stupid patch messed up my coding, too. Now that’s a buggy patch.

Manually update your punkbuster. It is probably out of synch and kicking you out. It has happened to me and about 5,000 other people.

Well I learnd something fascinating.

If you have both the game, and the demo, installed at the same time… at least on my computer… both will cease to function. No big deal, just uninstall, right? No. Clean up. Uninstall them. Delete both directories. Clean the damn registry. Delete everything to do with either program. Reinstall either. Neither will work.

It appears that I had the audacity to have the game and the demo installed seperately but at the same time, and now my windows can’t run the game EVER AGAIN.

I’ve ran a registry cleaner, I’ve deleted every file having to do with either, and I can’t do anything to get the damn game working.

Shitty, shitty buggy software.

And the latest on patch 1.21… (from http://www.ea.com/official/battlefield/battlefield2/us/editorial.jsp?src=communityupdate_022206)

Hey, you sonsabitches, howsabout fixing the (*@#*(@&# blue/red bug!

Max.

As part of an equal opportunity agreement, EA’s quality assurance department is made up entirely of people with Down’s syndrome.

BWHAHAHAHAHAHAHAA!!! Beefy, that post made my day!

Max.

Btw, Max, contact me via IM sometime, me and Inle-rah and maybe Palooka (and perhaps others) are getting together for CS:S games again.

I don’t have your IM details anymore since I rebuilt my computer :frowning:
