Well then, besides the Saul = SuperCylon or Continuity-Independent Cylon giving him Super-Cylon-Cperm, this adds a bit of depth to his relationship to Sexed-up-Six (I can’t keep track of which Six is which). Whether the so-called requirement is he is googley for her, she ga-ga for him, or some sort of mutual attraction, it’ll be interesting if they stick with the wuv aspect of things.
If the wuv-aspect is based on Helo’s character, wasn’t it an add-on to get him to stay in the series? I thought I read somewhere that he wasn’t originally supposed to last more than a couple episodes.
And did I read somewhere that Six is named after the Prisoner? Sorry for the random questions, but they don’t warrant a whole thread.
Is this Tigh/Six baby the first instance that we know of where one Cylon got another pregnant? Wasn’t the whole premise behind the egg-harvesting farm run by the Cylon Simon that Cylons could only have babies with humans, not other Cylons? What does this mean about the Final Five?
I’m not sure what your point is. Tory & Anders came later and now they’re final five. Billy should probably be a FF, but he got a new acting gig.
You’re right though. Helo was a one-off, but the fans kept wondering what happened to him so Moore tweaked the story. Personally, I’m glad of it. I’m also glad he killed Boxey.
I had read that there was going to be a break between episodes 1-10 and 11-20. But now it looks like ep. 11 is on next week. Does anyone know more about the planned air dates for the rest of the series?
Also, when Racetrack found the blowed up Raptor, I swear she said the F-word that is not frak. Am I hearing things?
I’m surprised more people don’t remember the scene where Six is beating the crap out of Tigh, and then he says “more” and she says “no, that’s not what you need” and kisses him. I figure they’ve been hooking up since then.
There was some Cylon belief that the first hybrid had to be a “child born of love” or something like that. This wikipedia entry (scroll down to the entry on Sharon) mentions the prophesy but doesn’t cite when in the series it’s stated. To me, this does not mean that ALL Cylon/human hybrids must be born from love, though. Just the first one. However, Caprica Six might be fixated on the idea, which is why she asks Tigh if he loves her. Or I might be wrong about the prophesy, since I only have a memory of it being said but not exactly what was said.
You’d think, though, if Six were going to conceive, it would have been with Baltar, her Twue Wuv (ick). Also, Chief flat out stated that he wasn’t really in love with Cally, but they managed to have a baby, so… either the prophesy only applied to Hera or it doesn’t apply to the Final Five. I think Six is very love and romance oriented and is also very interested in hybrids, so she may still be focused on the prophesy, which is why she mentioned love to Tigh, knowing she is pregnant. Won’t she be disappointed when she finds out her Pop-Tart is 100% Toaster?
How could they have model numbers that are interspersed with models dating back to the advent of the Cylon War if they are the replacements of actual humans who were born after the humanoid Cylons were created?
Remember ‘The Farm.’ If Cylons could frak and make Easy-Bakes, they would have. Cylons can’t make pop-tarts and they can’t make babies with unwilling humans.
Yeah, I mentioned that when I was backing you up earlier. It doesn’t seem like there could be any scientific basis for this, so it must be something “mystical” about why love is necessary for hybrid conception. Or at least willingness, if not love.
Though, there are numerous instances of love and copious consensual sex between humans and Cylons that did not result in pregnancy. Sharon didn’t get pregnant by Chief, Six by Baltar, Tory by whomever she was with presumably throughout her life amongst humans (including Baltar), Ellen by Tigh (in decades of marriage and obviously great love), nor Starbuck by Anders. Why Helo and Boomer? Maybe only if both partners know that a Cylon is involved in the sex and still want it can conception occur, unless the Cylon is one of the Final Five, since neither Six nor Cally knew their baby daddies were Cylons. Again, why this would be so I can’t imagine, but it seems to be true.
Another reason why this can’t be right is that the other 7 Cylons were “programmed” not to think about the Final Five. This suggests that the programming was done by the original creators of the Cylons, ie., humans. Why this would be so is a good question, but it does seem like they were created simultaneously with the other 7 but sent for some mission that could not be known to the other Cylons.
It’s confusing. Cylons were created by Man, i.e. the Colonials but we’ve found out the final five come from Earth, so they’re not the same Cylons that evolved from what the Colonials created.
There are twelve models.
How do five of those models come from Earth, and the others evolved from what the Colonials created?
The love thing is a theory, and considering Tyrol managed to knock up Cally without actually managing to like her all that much, I think it can be considered just a theory.
As for “Six”, they all have model numbers. I think the name was just a joke since the whole Six/Sex fits a bit too well.
None, I’ll bet. It’s a terrible theory, and really would only fit if they were totally making things up as they went along.
Maybe, but I’m operating under the theory that the Final Five are the ones who created the other seven.
It’s cyclical, and I think you’re approaching the chicken-and-egg territory. Who created whom? Lost in the mists of time.
I think we’ve got a bunch of folks who flee oppression/genocide/etc and escape to someplace new. They make the same mistake their predecessors made and create something that rebels violently, there’s a war, and one of the sides flees back “home”.
“All of this has happened before, and all of this will happen again.” A fine way to cover up any continuity questions, or just leave some mysteries for the fans to figure out after the final episode.
Could be the Hybrid was simply misinformed by its creators/programmers (either the Five themselves or the Supreme Being(s) who brought the Five from Earth), too.
The Final Five do not follow the rules of the other Cylons, since Tigh managed to get another Cylon pregnant, which apparently has never happened before. So whatever assumptions we can make about how regular Cylons could or could not get others pregnant seems to go out the window witht he Final Five.
I wonder why there are so many more male Cylon models than female. Right now the ratio is at 4:7. If the Final One is a male, then it’s very unbalanced.
Why would they make themselves model #7, then 9-12? That doesn’t make sense to me. Machines would be logical about their numbering system, you’d think. But this is all fruitless speculation at this point anyway.
